Hi everyone.

Do anyone have a photo of King & Country Napoleonic's next to Collectors Showcase Napoleonic's as a scale comparison.

I'm thinking of filling my ranks with another make of equal size?.

I do like the new collectors Showcase French Voltigeurs but i'm not sure?.

I've a lot of Patriot figures , Del Prado's and Oryon, but feel most of patriots are a tad too big and Oryon and Britain's are also a tad too small.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks and best wishes Mark.

I think I did some some a while back so I'll see if I can find them. Pending that, from the ones I have, the CS figures are chunky like the K&C ones but not quite as tall. I did some measurements with a digital caliper a while back to get the heights to the eyes, which is more accurate given the head coverings. It turns out that the eyes of an actual person are dead center in the head so to get the sole to tip of head measurement you just measure and add the chin to eyes value. Doing that I came up with the following:
K&C: 63.96 mm
CS: 60.6 mm
Britains: 60.4 mm
FL: 60.2 mm

Visually this is a bit deceiving since because of the relative thicknesses, the CS figures look better to me with the K&C ones than the other two. Of course they are all much shorter than the Patriots. The Oryon's are a bit inconsistent as I have some taller than K&C and others shorter and girths are generally larger but the arms and legs are thinner.

Here is a follow up with the pictures I had on these. The first group is from left to right: Britains (repainted), FL, K&C and CS. The second is K&C and CS. Sorry about the downlighting but it was the setup I had. Hopefully this will illustrate the height versus girth comparison.

I should add that as the photos show, there is a base difference as well ranging from the FL at 2.2 mm, Britains around 2.4 mm, K&C at 3 mm and CS at about 4.5 mm.

Hi Spitfrnd.

Thank you very much for helping me gauge the scales of these figures.

Your photo's are exactly what i was hoping for.:D

I wouldn't have thought that collectors showcase figures would be that small .
I'm going to have another look at your figure gauge photo, and try to make my mind up.

Once again Spitfrnd ,most appreciated and thank you .

Very best wishes Mark.

Glad to help when I can Mark. I couldn't make up my mind as to which ones went best with my FL collection and since I had no nearby dealer or show at the time I bought a few to try. I did my best to show you the relative bulk of the figures which I think should illustrate that the CS ones do look the best of the others with K&C and really just like a tall and a short person, as we have in reality. There is only a 5.5% difference in the height of the CS and K&C figure, which is like having one at 5ft, 11.5 inches and the other and 5 ft, 8 inches. This is well within norms. For that matter, on height alone they all are but the bulk differences seem to grab the eye more. Anyway I am glad if this helps.

Unless it's the photo it looks like all 4 could be put together.Remember the human body is an imperfect creation.(very imperfect:D:D)

I agree with you about the smaller person. I might try a few light troops who were normally the more agile ,smaller and better marksmen within the regiment.
The new French Voltigeurs from CS would fit in great i think ,especially the casualties they have. I might just try a couple and see just how well they fit in.
I don't want to get too carried away as K & C will have many more regiments to choose from over the next few years.

Best Wishes Mark

I have the CS Polish lancers in my Waterloo dio along with K&C cuirassiers and they look just fine side by side. In the same dio I have also some Patriots Old guard grenadiers along with K&C voltigeurs/grenadiers/KGL/HL/Coldstream and Britains Nassaus. They too look fine together. The only ones that are on a light smaller scale are FL's but I have only a few and they look fine in the mêlée! You can have a look at my album to get a feel: ;)

Hi Gornard.

That is some collection you have their mate.!:D:D:D Blooming heck!!!!!;):D:D

Great looking photo's with your french cavalry attacking those poor highlanders. I was tempted to buy a couple of Cs lancers a few months ago but didn't.( should have )
I might add a couple to my Christmas present list (which is getting bigger and bigger:eek: ) for the wife.
Anyway, i look forward in what K & C has in store for us all next year , maybe some British Cavalry.?:D

Very best wishes Mark.

You are quite welcome ML. Of course as to which looks best, that is simply a matter of opinion.;):D

Well most of this is in the eye and with the right perspective these different figures can be put together. As to scale, the numbers don't lie.;) As noted, the FL and Britains scale is the same, K&C is slightly larger and every Patriot I have seen is noticably larger still. CS is like Britains/FL for height and K&C for girth. I have spent much time at my few shows admiring the Patriots and lamenting they were not smaller.:( I really haven't seen any photos that reflect otherwise. If you look at my most recent dio you can also see the CS and K&C Cuirassiers together against a mostly First Legion square, supplimented with some repainted Britains and I think they all fit together just fine. I really like both of those Cuirassiers.
