For these vehicles, I don't there ever is a recession, plus they were expensive to begin with.

Just a side note on the 251. R. Lee Ermey on Lock n' Load was driving a 251 around on his show today and was quite impressed with it. I am sure the one he was driving was worth more than $960 though. -- lancer

This form of bidding strategy often does not get a win for the early high bidder.

Other bidders put in multiple successive bids to try beat an early high bid and the price just goes up and up.

It benefits the seller more than anyone else.

Yes, it can be really amazing how much you can sell old retired K&C sets for on eBay. However, it does not apply to all K&C retired sets.
