I was reading the recent Osprey book "Merril's Marauders" and the thought came to my tired little brain that we could use some good old mules for several of the K&C series. The recent set of 1850s US Cavalry could use a pack mule or two. The US Army used mules for packing supplies in the CBI theater and in the mountains of Italy.

Were mules used in the Napoleonic wars? Mules and oxen hauled supplies in the American Civil War and imagine that some served in WW1 as well.

Anybody else think we could use a mule or two, perhaps with different packs to allow for different armies or eras?

The Canadian Army used mules in Italy, about 300-500 per division to move supplies in rugged terrain.

The US Army used mules in Italy also. A dear friend, who has now passed, actually worked with the mules in Italy...

I'm all for seeing some mules. I think I brought it up once before a long time back. I think some would look great with K&C Alamo.

Keep it silly

This seems like a reasonable request especially since K&C's latest LOJ lineup includes numerous animals ( and they look good too ).

Mules would be great. Pulling artillery in WWl, the mountains in Italy. Great idea.

Mules and oxen would be a great addition to any era and diaorama ,A generic version could accommodate many different loads of equipment, From entrenching tools to mounting guns.

best wishes Mark

Wm. Brit has a nice mule (donkey) wagon...

WM Britain #17571 Federal Ordinance wagon 1863...

Pretty versatile for any era...

I picked one up on Ebay for $56.00...

they originally retailed at $169.00...supposedly rare according to the seller...

but I see them on Ebay all the time...

In a non generic use for mules, Wilder's lightning brigade (17th & 72nd Indiana, 92nd,98th & 123rd Illinois) They were at Chicamauga mounted on mules and used Spencer repeating rifles. Col. Wilder mounted his men on mules used to pull wagons and arranged for a bank loan to purchase the Spencers.

How bout an easter US cougar(mountain lion).. I could use it for revolutionary war BATTLE OF BRANDYWINE CREEK Diorama! This is when mountain lions still existed in Pennsylvania!
