How many of you guys complete a full range? (1 Viewer)

I started out just wanting a few of the current Arnhem set, thought they would look cool in my office, Ive now got all but a few from the set.

I kept deluding myself that I just wanted a few more. Ill be the same when the new ones come out im sure. (Can't wait!!)

The only one from the current arnhem set I will give a miss is the jeep, Ive got the jeep and trailer, Im more attracted to the figures for some reason.

Regards

Dave

Who moved the thread? And why? The discussion was on K&C ranges. Besides, Do you know how much retraining I have to go through to post to a moved thread

Terry

I moved it as it was not a K&C specific question and alienates some members who do not collect K&C.

Yeah thats a shame,it was indeed about K&C? Well as I meant it to be only about K&C can you return it and add the K&C to title?.

For me the short answer is that it depends. If it is a small range of something I like than most likely I will unless I don't care for one of the poses. It also depends on the subject matter and of course the cost. The bottom line is that I consider each figure on its own merits and if it fits my interest I will try and buy it. My current focus is on British and French Napoleonics so I naturally can't pick up too many figures from other countries in the period and still keep up with what I want for those. This is particuarly true for Napoleonics since there is the need for multiples of key poses so sometimes you have to forgo breadth for depth.

Certainly this is not a K&C specific question but applies as much to any manufactuer. I believe someone here recently made the good point of the merits of avoiding tribalism where possible.

Well I beg to differ!.My question was indeed about K&C ranges because thats what I collect. Are we now saying that in the K&C section we can no longer have K&C topics for fear of upsetting other collectors??????.Do I get upset about Britains,Conte etc collections because I can't join in?.Of course not!.

Its bad enough this thread has been moved but to bring in words about tribalism regarding a K&C thread in a K&C is plain wrong, got to say pissed off to be honest.

Rob with a title like "how many of you guys complete a full range" How can that be K&C specific? If you had said how many of you have the complete LAH series or the complete SoHK that would be different. By your last post that has just alienated me and given me the impression that you don't give a monkeys about my collection as it isn't K&C.

Scott, belive me I had no intention of either alienating or giving you such an impression,I have no reason to want to do such a thing. There is such a tribal atmosphere around this forum at the moment that its wound me up a bit.I apologise for not putting K&C in the title,I took it for granted in a K&C thread it wasn't needed.Again my apologies.

great topic again ,rob,my interest is too wide to complete a range or sub range i buy what interests me ,which means everything,as previously said K&C is a one stop shop for me and i dont feel the need to be a completist, but must say i admire those who do,it must give them a great sense of achievement. ken

Your right, Rob should have been more specific. But as it was in the K&C section, I took it to mean K&C ranges. I have AFVs from CS, Figati and HB but didn't mention those and limited my posts to just the K&C ranges.

Rob, Take a deep breath my friend, which is what I would say to you if we were in a pub. Actually I wish we were in a pub. I have no idea what you intended, only what you wrote and it was not limited to K&C. EVEN if it was, would you advise that people here are not permitted to expand the conversation on such a general topic to cover their potentially broader interests? I respectfully suggest that such a view would indeed reflect a level of tribalism that I think you recently decried and to which I do not subscribe. Moreover, I think you and I have enough history here for your reaction to me to be rather extreme. I think the idea that you are only a K&C person is as absurd as saying you are only a Ford or Volvo person. Loyalty is fine but just as I respect your dedication to your preferred producer should you not be able to tolerate someone else's reasonable and polite observations about their experiences that may relate to another, again even on a K&C thread. I am happy for my friends, including you, that collect K&C, Conte, Britains or CS and I just as much appreciate being able to exchange ideas with them as those who collect from my favorite producer; is that problematic? I am frankly surprised and hurt by your reaction which I hope was not intended in the way it could been taken.:)
