It seems to me that this item DD065 British Sherman is under appreciated. I understand some U.S quantity numbers might be in the range of 200-300. It seems to be a beautiful piece and pretty limited.

It was originally produced for K & C UK and I think the amount was 500 but then I guess US buyers wanted to buy it too so around 200 to 300 were made for the US market.

However, there is one big difference between the two. The one sold in the UK came with a certificate whereas the one sold in the US did not. I originally had the US one but sold it to get the certificated one.

Hi Markeytmaker

In fact the DD65 was a K&C UK limited edition. This is how it worked. We had 500 made for us and these came with a certificate numbering 1 - 500. there were some issues around the world about the fact we worked with K&C in Hong Kong on this project so they ran another 200 top please the larger market. So if you bought it from us in the UK it came with a certificate if you got it ROW you just got the tank.

I agree well under stated and looks great on a dio.....we have three here on my d-day dio in the showroom.

Brad, so even better the U.S version with non-certificate is even more rare???

I suppose you can look it at that way but I think the more desired version is the UK version with the certificate.

Since I own the U.S version I have to vote for the one which there are less of...LOL!

I would gladly accept a UK version from one of my British friends, seeing how they are so plentiful !

all sold out a few years ago..........where easy to get hold of atthe time. And the normal Ebay quark. we were selling them at normal RRP and they would go for £50+ higher on ebay!!!

I got me one of them there babies and they are indeed much underated, now we just need Andy to give us a Britsh Firefly,or 'Wittman killer' as they are now officially known.Somewhere in the heart of Canada Terry is sticking pins in a doll of me right now...my eyes my eyes!!!!:eek:;)

I've got a ROW non certificate version.........but I don't care because its a super piece and one of the jewels in my collection. Normally I prefer the newer more detailed releases to these older classics but this D-Day Sherman in British markings is an exception and the figures are great. I think it epitomizes the Allied tank force at that time.

I have one myself .....and I totally agree!!!!!!!!

Andy may do a Firefly "Wittmann Killer" in British markings given his penchant for taking poetic license, but in reality, we don't even know if it was a Firefly of the Quebec Sherbrooks or one of their Standard Shermans that got Wittmann at a 45 degree angle from the rear at only 150 yards? So even saying a Firefly got Wittmann isn't certain.

And I don't have a doll of you to stick pins in, just a photo :p:D

I just looked and sure enough mine has a certificate from K&C UK. I did not even pay attention to that when I opened it. This was a gift from my mother who lives in England so I guess I need to thank her again:) With or without the certificate this is a great tank.

I'm probably making too much of this certificate thing because this is one tank I don't plan to sell so all it's doing is lying in the box. Even though it's probably not as well detailed as some of the newer tanks, it's still one of my favorites.

This was the 1st tank i received (closely followed by the crusader) after i delved into matte soldiers, I picked it up on EBay for £110 which i was very pleased with, how much did it originally sell for in the UK?
