Two words - OH WOW! Very nice work Mr Andy! I can't say I am going to make a habit of buying the airplanes, but I don't regret this one. Thanks Andy.

One question; on a P51 shouldn't the gear door be open? As I understand the process the P51's gear doors cycle open, the inner doors close again, but they drop open again after the plane's engine is stopped and the hydraulic pressure bleeds off.

That is correct. And the flaps droop too. But unless the model has moveable flaps, I don't think any model makers droop the flaps and gear covers. That's how the flaps and wheel well covers work on the Corgi 1:32 Mustang - those flaps and wheels move.

Then we will have to pretend that the pilot has just switched off the engine!!
See, he is still sitting in the cockpit, and yes that engine is still hot!!!!:D

My P51 arrived yesterday, due to bad weather it was delayed for a few days!!
First impression; yes it's a lovely plane and I really like it! However, if you also
collect large scale diecast models from Corgi and GMP it's....well...ah... different !! The paint job is great and it has a lot of details, however there are a few issues; the prop blades seem a bid short and wide compared with my
Corgi p51 and although K&C supplies a very nice pilot figure in the cockpit, the images through the canopy are distorted due to the poor optical qualities
of the material used. The canopy doesn't open but that's a good thing! I never liked the toyish appearence of the Hurricane canopy! Last year when I
was in Hong Kong and visited the K&C store (Pacific Place,88 Queensway)
I had a chance to admire the wooden P51 warbird. No canopy issues here, so
I know K&C can do better. I didn't buy it because of the price!!!! BTW I do
recommend a visit to the K&C store, nice folks!!:)

You are basing your Opinion On a p-51 Corgi, against the K&C Mustang, Are You sure that the Corgi Had it right. not K&C??

Spitfrnd knows a lot about aircraft and aircraft models. He can probably answer that one. The P-51B (K&C) used the same prop as the P-51D (Corgi), but there was a P-51K model which used a
Aeroproducts 11'0" 4-blade (K) instead of the standard Hamilton Standard 11'2" 4-blade (D) - and the blades shape was slightly different. Both the D and K models flew in WW2 and aside from the prop, it was almost impossible to tell them apart.

Just IMHO!! Most forum members of The Diecast Aviation Website would agree
that Corgi's P51 is one of the best Mustang models. The only drawback is the
amount of plastic they've used. BTW, is the rear wheel/ tailwheel of the K&C
P51 right? Shouldn't it be open on the right side???

You are correct. I've only ever seen the tail wheel with a single strut. The K&C model uses a yoke strut. I wonder if that was done for strength?

That is amazing work. His eyes must be shot from the level of detail required.
