Hi, was the NASHORN/HUMMEL ever used on the western front ? I think it is WS80 .. Is the paint scheme accurate?

Hummels were used on the Western Front and in Italy. They came too late for North Afrika. It was probably most used on the Eastern Front. They operated in Batteries of 6 Hummels plus an ammo carrier (a Hummel with no gun)

The K&C model has a basic green pattern over dunkelgelb base coat which is accurate . It would fit in Eastern Front, Western Front and Italy.

The only caution is the crew are wearing winter clothing so it would look out of place except in a winter dio.


The Narshorn also served on each of the 3 fronts in 6 schwere Panzerjager Abteilungens (560, 655, 525, 93, 519 and 88), each equipped with 30 Nashorns

Also, if you're a stickler for details, the hummel cant be used in a west front display because it has the 3rd SS Totenkopf markings (skull and crossbones). Totenkopf only served on the east front, except for a small time in France early in the war.

Which is the other side of the coin. Putting exact markings on an AFV and historically precluding it from a theatre of operations. That's why I am more tolerant about insignia on the AFVs than I am with other historical details. Lucky for me, I do use the Hummel on the Russian Front.

I've always liked the colors used on this piece. The RAL6003 "Olivgrun" is a very nice rendition. I admit I've only seen it in pictures but this piece always stood out to me.

Don't know if any of you guys got that book "ENDGAME"... Import from Germany,, about the last two years on the eastern front.. Shows a hummel, and a lot of Waffen SS action,, K&C model is definitly a good fit for the Eastern Front
