A change of mood on the forum. (1 Viewer)

i think vezzolf has hit on something. a saturation point for alot of the current collectors. i know i have run out of space myself or have been branching off to other non world war two fields

Hi Guys,

Re the above subject… I don’t post nearly as much as before for the following reasons…

1. I’m too busy actually designing and manufacturing toy soldiers… buildings… fighting vehicles… model ships… and aircraft, that our collectors like to buy on, I’m happy to say, a very regular basis.

2. I spend virtually 3 months of the year traveling around the world meeting and talking with K&C collectors, dealers and distributors. Discussing all kinds of great ideas and suggestions and exploring all kinds of possibilities.

3. In the past I had a kind of knee-jerk reaction to the Forum… especially when I felt that K&C was criticized unfairly or unnecessarily. As some of you know we used to get into some real “ding-dongs” with some of our very special critics who just loved to “bait” us. However I began to realize that this was counter productive as my answers or replies or arguments would rarely (if ever) change any of the expert critics’ minds or opinions.
All it did for me was raise my blood pressure… waste valuable working time.

4. However I still read the Forum religiously three times a day (morning, noon and night). I still correspond privately with many Forum members on all aspects of the hobby… business… and “wants, needs and must haves”.
BUT I’m happy to ignore the sniping… snide comments and self-praise that sometimes seems to take over this great little toy soldier/military miniature arena of ours.

Anyway that’s my tuppence worth for now… See you soon!

Best wishes and happy collecting!
Andy C.

Great to see you back Andy.We need your in put at times and your passion towards K&C and toy soldiers in general . Try in the future to get on more as already there is a spark on the forum happening.Simmo.

I can understand Andy's reluctance to post too often though Simmo. When you are attacked for defending your product (a very natural reaction)it must get very tiring very quickly. Also if he is busy making buildings,Tanks, figures etc....don't disturb him!:D

And I agree with you Simmo, already there is more of a spark on here in the last 24hrs:cool:

Oh Rob he is like a proud pup with his new products and it must almost kill him not to shout out loud about his new releases. You have meet him in person he loves to talk about military history and we need him on here from time to time to keep things real and in touch with his collectors.Simmo.

I've met him loads of times mate, and you are spot on,his enthusiasm for the product/subject is infectious and he's always happy to talk to me or answer question, which must be a pain for him as I always have loads of them!;).

Robs

I could not be a pain to him at all .Everytime we have talked he always ask's me what do you think about this and about that. Some of Andy's best ideas have come from me.So it's a good working relationship everyone is happy.Simmo. P.S remember the Tiger tank in Russia my idea.

I was just kidding Simmo.

I've know Andy for about five or six years now,and he takes ideas and suggestions from many different people books films etc,he has many influences for his releases.

Rob

Lol, Andy's back? He just posted a great topic on Metalshed. You guys need to get out more...

Finally....a pulse on this end of the forum....Good to hear from Andy....I still like his products for the most part.....He is the best in "his niche" of the hobby and has set the bar for all the others to match or exceed....Best Regards Andy......Vezzolf

Same for me. I've started branching into a history of the British army and their foes mostly from K&C but with impact pieces from other manufacturers too.

Even if things have slowed down, this Forum is still a wealth of info....Thanks to Shannon and Peter for creating it, and Mr.Jazz for maintaining it. Frankly I wonder where so many of you get the time to participate as much as you do. I am recently retired and can't find the time.

The bickering, and defense of favorite manufacturers seems to be a given, and we are all guilty of it, yet we all say it is the other guy.

Anyway...what I like most, is telling the Manufacturers what we would like to see produced. With all of the topics discussed here, sometimes that aspect gets lost. So we at BSP are thinking of doing just that, on our Web Site. A wish list that the Manufacturers can look at, and draw from.... That and only that, cut and dry. If there is bickering, or any other nonsense, we will discontinue it......We will let you know if we decide to do it. Alex

I think it's normal to slow down a bit ..in the first months on this forum i was like mesmerized by every thread and opinion ..i must say my opinion i thought..then you learn to restrain a bit..and as on the forum in the collection too..i bought from nearly every range , then i tried to focus (at the moment my focusing period last from 2 to 4 months..then i re-start buying the odd piece!:))..it's normal i think, as someone said is a hobby not a job..so let's enjoy it for what it is..if someone takes it like a job (and with this i'm referring to the posting on the forum too and not only the collecting)then it's time to take it easy..and relax..

Simmo,I think the mood on the forum has changed already, the buzz is back;)

In that case Rob, you might want to make sure your computer terminal is properly earthed. I'm no electrican, but I'm pretty sure you shouldn't be getting a buzz from it.
