Dispatches pictures coming through! (1 Viewer)

A little surprised the fruit seller set is $100- two female figures- $65-70- am I to pay $29 for baskets then?? Wonder if the pricing between the bread makers set and this set got mixed up.

there are definately some gaps in teh AE numbering- should be neat to see what they fill them with. I'm guessing with this last batch of Egyptians acting as a marketplace subset, perhaps a market place scenic piece either buried in the Egyptian line or as another SP for the desert village.

February's dispatch didn't have any retirements that I need so that's great. A ho-hum dispatch for me really. My favourites and IMO the standouts are the beautiful Saracens on camels. They are extraordinary guys! The vivid colours and unique designs are awesome! Definitely going to add some to my humble Crusader collection. Can't believe a "rolling brick" is outshadowing these little treasures! All those LAH pieces (with most flashing the Heil Hitler) from a variety of little boys, women and men from all walks of life is all too much for me. I just don't get it and I suppose I never will. The "Fall of Berlin" Germans are a surprise and look well done.
As always I look forward to more releases that will tickle my fancy as the year unfolds.

Hey CFM, I reckon there will be some RAF releases to tickle your fancy this year mate;)

Wow those Saracen camel dudes look awesome. Great job by K&C on the idea and design of those sets. The colors look outstanding. Those are a must have IMO for sure.

Keep it silly

I still like the Egyptians ......I know the price is going to be hard to get youst to but i have been waiting for this for a while ...and even more to come ..can't wait ....thanks K&C

I agree Gazza. I don't know what it was about the "Red Lancers" but they just didn't look right to me.
I didn't buy any of them and I'm not sorry to see them go.
Hopefully it will make room for a new Napoleonic cavalry range.;)

I also still like the Cuirassiers and they have pride of place in my cabinet.
However, my favorite K&C cavalry regiment is the Empress Dragoons. :)

What we need from K&C (or someone) is some more British cavalry regiments in action packed poses like the Cuirassiers and like some of the competitors have recently produced.:D:eek::D

I like the dashing Red Lancers - who are the legendary 2nd Light Horse Lancers of Napoleon's elite Imperial Guard - and I thought K&C did a good job with it. Enjoyed reading about them in Osprey's "Napoleon's Red Lancers". A nice detail by K&C on the trumpet banner of the trumpeter has the words "2nd REG de ChevauLégers Lanciers" on it - words so tiny that you need a magnifying glass to read that thin black line :) And they got the white-over-red pennant on the lances right where some other manufacturers and paintings got it wrong. Would say it's an interesting choice over the more common Polish lancers ;)

I would have preferred the poses to be more interesting (like those shown in Chris Collingwood's painting depicting the charge of the red lancers on Mercer's RHA), although those in action postures still go well with the Cuiraissiers - adding a touch of scarlet to the sea of blue

Definitely a must buy come March. Specially the Kettle drummer.

Don't get me wrong. I like the Red Lancers uniforms. They are a nice contrast and they could have been very dramatic. But I just didn't like the K&C poses on this release.
I thought they lacked variety and action. Unlike the K&C Cuirassiers and some other manufacturers lancers.
Just my personal opinion and taste I suppose.:)

I agree. K&C did a good job on the Cuiraissiers with their interesting poses. The Red Lancers has great potential as a subject and there could have been more action and dash. It's the same with K&C Chassuers a Cheval - which were also quite pedestrian in terms of poses. Indeed, it's a matter of taste and there are people who like "parade" versions or more sedentary poses.

Cheers

Surely there will be a new Napoleonic cavalry regiment.....
my guess is either French Carabiniers or British King's Dragoon Guards.

Good choices. I hope good action poses from them.

Mine would be any of the colourful hussars.

I thought the same. It's K&C's plain laziness which resulted in the dull poses and premature retirement of the red lancers.

In contrast, they have put a lot of effort in the crimea lancers (and even the German WWI lancers which retired last month).

I got the Collectorshowcase POlish Lancers, nice poses, but some are too exaggerated i.e. the guy shooting a rife on horseback.

I am looking forward to the French Hussars with lots of action but not too much

Hope K&C is listening to us, then :)

It seems that there are quite a number of us who would like interesting, credible action poses. There is so much that can be done with the Naps line - as can be seen in the illustrations in books and paintings. We need figures that can bring to life those scenes.

Oberstoskar,
Do you think that K&C or Andy for that matter will take any notice of you with comments like "K&C plain laziness". To quote a commonly use saying from my good mate Andy. "Why don't you start up your own TS company and produce better"
Have a great day.:D:D
Cheers Howard

I liked K&C Lancers and have them all .. still, IMHO, I believe K&C could have done a bit better.

One of the things NAP collectors like is "mass" .. and the Lancers release had a creditable 9 poses. However, there were split between 4 to 5 "action" poses and 4 to 5 "non-action" poses. Now I have my Lancers displayed in 2 seperate groups .. 3 attacking an English square, and the other 6 in a parade column. I rather have them all in a single display.

If we observe from K&C's "more" popular/well received pre-20th century cavalry releases, such as ACW and NAPs .. all the poses released in these ranges completed each other, as in the case of the Confederate cavalry, the Scots Grey and the French Cuirassiers.

Although the above were all "action/ attacking" poses but I would still welcome "parade" poses, as long as I am able to build to a minimum mass.

How do other "cavalry" collectors feel ?
Have a good day.

I can never quite understand the interest in parade figures, so I'm for a lot of action in a group that can be used in a diorama. I don't mind the 'second line' being a bit less aggressive, as long as they compliment those in the first rank. Cavalry is so expensive, I really want them to be right if I'm going to get them. To be honest, with NAPS, my interest is centered on Britain and France and I only noticed the Red Lancers for the first time last week. I was a little bit tempted by the colour and the fact they were using lances but the poses didn't quite do it for me. I would like a French cavalry brigade of sorts for my Waterloo arrangement, so I'm still keen on another Regt - and a mounted Marshal Ney, to go with my Cuirassiers.
