Eighth Army (small version) (1 Viewer)

After completing my collection of the Crimean War I have been giving a lot of thought to what range to dabble in next. I’ve always had a liking for the Eighth Army vehicles and with the announcement of the Rolls Royce Armoured Car due in February I took the plunge and added a couple more sets to the Daimler Dingo I already had. The lounge carpet will do for now whilst a suitable terrain board is being made for my cabinet.
Jeff

The terrain board made by Tony Neville at K&C UK arrived today. Tony has made a first rate job (again) and I must say it's just what the doctor ordered.

The scene shows Churchill's staff car passing by an element of heavy armour which is taking a break from giving Jerry a boot up the Jacksey! ^&grin

The Dingo scout car will be joined soon I hope by the RR Armoured Car and I will update when this arrives.

Many thanks Tony. :salute::

Nicely done vignette! Like the irregular-shaped base. Amazing how much content can be fit into a small area. Mini work of art:smile2:

Jeff, what a neat unique base that is. And grand work Mr. Neville. Also I bet that would do well for a few more ranges. TRW came to my mind. Enjoy it.

Thank you everyone for all the comments! :salute::

The base is shaped like this to fit into my display cabinet, which is a corner unit. Tony is getting quite use to this now! ^&grin

Cheers. :)

The Rolls turned up today and well pleased with it. ^&cool It is quite a large vehicle compared to the Dingo and even the Vickers (I would hate to fight in one of these).

The commander is trying to see where the edge of the lounge carpet is! ^&grin

A very nice display. That's a lot of vehicles in one display without looking crowded - that base must be bigger than it appears. Can you give me the dimensions of the base? Just the width and depth at their widest points

Terry

Another small display.....

Major David Stirling and SAS Recce Team, North Africa c1941/1942.

Raymond.:)

That picture has always been my most favorite shot of WW2- the steely look in the eyes of the first LRDG trooper just give me chills. Truly an iconic picture. That guy is the quentissential warrior- looks like you could pluck him out of that picture and drop him in with Boudicca's forces fighting the Romans, as a Crusader with Richard the Lionheart or even with the modern SAS fighting in Afghanistan- the look of grit and determintion is timeless.

Cheers Terry,

Just need a few figures here and there. Size wise - front edge (parallel to the track) to the back (behind the Vickers) is 400mm and 700mm approx between widest points. This is the shape of my display cabinet, which is a corner design. I haven't a photo of my cabinet but it's the same as my wife's which contains her Chinese stuff.

Thanks Jeff. At 28 inches X 15.5 inches, that is a bit bigger than my 22 inch X 12 inch shelves but it's amazing how that small extra space can allow a much nicer display. Mine look too crowded unless I have very few AFVs in it.
