New eBay Fee Structure (1 Viewer)

Well After this month I think are stop selling on ebay as all there for is the buyer & no protection for the seller + I'm fed-up with buyer trying to rip me off after they got there items. think people should do the same and hit ebay where it hurt in there profit margin

Unfortunately it is a tar everyone with the same brush. I was just browsing as I usually do and some of the shipping prices are OUTRAGEOUS !!! I mean CRIMINAL. It's a shame that a few spoil it for the majority.

The tar is not being applied equally. Our postal rates are double those in the US. Not only do Canadian vendors often have to quote lower than actual shipping cost to be competitive with US sellers, but now we are going to get charged a 9% fee for what we do charge for shipping.

If my math is right, they end up receiving roughly the same: you don't pay for listing but well, with 9% on shipping they found the way to earn the same (or more)... :p At least you won't pay without selling...:rolleyes2:

You're right Paulo, it's a bait and switch on fees.

I never sell on eBay or anywhere else. The ins and outs
of eBay escapes me. I'm sure their fees are passed on
to the Buyer one way or another.

Still across the miles and oceans it is the best bet.
Certainly better than costs associated with loading
up the car and attending a toy soldier show or
maintaining a shop.

E-Bay needs to start thinking about sellers and giving them some seller protection against people who have already in their possession damaged items, bid on an auction
that matched with what they have, doing a swap and then say the received items were damaged. How are sellers protected from this scenario ????? We are not !!!

How is it possible to protect against that? The only thing I can think of is to put your initials under the base in something that only shows up in UV light so when the broken items are returned, you can make sure they were yours. and that isn't very practical. The only protection is insurance on shipping for expensive items.

Phantom Warrior I agree with the insurance filling this void. Next time if it is big, fragile, expensive, whatever it gets insured !!!! :redface2:

That fine but ebay will refund the buyer straight away & your have to wait months to get your money back from the insurance claim & some company have a bad name for not paying out like Royal mail in the UK ,it take the fun out of ebay , I bloke a lot of people from bidding on my stuff by using the ebay selling filters

Insurance works very well with Canada Post. The first $100 can be free depending on yhe type of delivery. If the item is under $100 or even a bit more, I ship a slow service and get the free insurance. If the item is worth more, It costs $1.35 per $100. I have only had one claim. The item sold for about $175 but arrived with 2 pieces broken loose as the buyer showed me in some photos. We agreed on a 50% refund of the sale price. I phoned my claim into Canada Post for just the 50% sale price reduction. Less than a week later I got a cheque for the claim plus the postage. Postal rates in Canada are expensive compared to US rates, but I can't complain about the service.

People used to come into my shop trying to pull garbage like that. Some would even bring stuff in I knew they didn't buy from me and try it for crying out loud.

Trust me, this is not exclusive to eBay.
