So I click on the following item, and get the following message:

16-Vintage WWII Army Soldier Paper Doll Uniforms

Now it was happened 8 times{sm0}! It is mostly British, American, or French military uniforms and medals, none of which relate at all to any Nazi, controversial, or illegal things. Mostly WWI or Crimean War stuff.

Is it possible to give a link to the offending auction?

Seconded. The underlined text in your first post is just that - underlined text. I'm curious to see the auction, too.

Prost!

I had no trouble with the first and third links; the second indicated it had been removed.

Sandor,

Were you perhaps trying to access this from an eBay site in another country. I tend to look at Ebay UK and unless I specifically separate out US auctions, the search will capture them.

I'm assuming this isn't the French equivalent of a Medal of Honor correct? I do believe it is a Federal offense for an awardee to sell theirs....

You are correct . . .about the MOH, but the LOH is France's highest award.

There was a time when you could "purchase " a real MOH, you just couldn't do it with real money, cash, but you could use US postal stamps to complete the "purchase". That was the "loop hole" around collectors getting one.

I know that congress passed a law making it illegal to sell any awarded medals - that they were to be kept by family or returned to the government. Something like that.

Maybe there is a similar law in France and eBay is abiding by a French law on US soil?

OK I am confused !! (Not hard I know)

The first post references WWII Paper dolls yet the links you gave us are for French medals. I am not understanding what eBay are not allowing?

The word "sell" is the catch word. I once was a collector of 1/1 militaria. I knew a dealer here in MASS, 40 years ago, that would let you "purchase" brand new MOH's for 650 dollars worth of US postage stamps and it was legal to do that. These medals "purchased" this way were grandfathered in and are now worth well over 25-40 thousand dollars each, today.

I didn't aquire these MOH's for my collection, I had so much respect of the award itself and I drew the line there, other people may say this was stolen honor having it in a collection.

There were around 8 items that they blocked!!!{sm0}{sm0} Simply outrageous!

I am actually the proud owner already of a boxed French Legion of Honor, the French equivalent to the MOH. It is in very good condition, and is probably from WWII, based on the small Soviet medal I found underneath it, hidden at the bottom of the case. It cost me $100, which was a very good find for a boxed one. The one in that listing is now $150 or something I think. Now my goal is to get an original Napoleonic one. Those run from $600-$PRICELESS{eek3}.

P.S. If ever in Paris, visit the museum! It is simply stunning!

Back to the original topic - the message on the page at the second link only indicates that the auction at that page is no longer available. We can't really know why it's no longer available; it could be that it was pulled for some violation of eBay rules, or it could be hat the seller took it down for some other reason, too, couldn't it? Those of you who sell on eBay, maybe you can provide some more info on that particular message.

Prost!
Brad
