Like I posted - even the references have contradictions and inaccuracies. That same single post inverted "T" symbol but in yellow was also designated for the 7th Panzer (Heer) Division for Kursk. And the only 2-1/2 vertical bar symbol I can remember, (in white with no bar across the base) was supposed to be for the 3rd Panzer Division (Heer) for Kursk - but I don't think they were at Kursk.

Terry I can only say you're spot on . The LAH in Russia certainly used the inverted yellow "T" symbol .There is photographic proof of it .As you say with the only intention to fool the enemy;

I have never seen pictures featuring "LSSAH" vehicles with an inverted T unit emblem. It seems improbable considering that 7.Panzer-Division was already using that emblem.

It could be because the inverted "T" symbol for 7.Panzer was yellow and the one proposed for 1.ss-LSSAH was white???

On looking at reference material, there seems to be that some Kursk symbols were proposed but not used by the unit it was proposed for, including some for units that were never sent to Kursk, and the same or similar symbol was sometimes used for a different unit that was actually sent to Kursk. In short, the special Kursk symbols seem a confused mess.

This is interesting, I greatly appreciate and respect the knowledge base that is present in this forum. Is this a regular occurrence with K&C or have I noticed something rare and out-of-character for them?

I am a bit of a stickler for things being totally accurate and correct...should this make me like this model less or have it banished from my collection?????

Chris,
don't banish it from your collection . With minimum skills you can do the necessary repairs . A little bit of paint works miracles.If need be, paint over the identification sign completely and replace it by a correct decal or a hand painted one.

What would you change it to? If to a unit that had Panzer I's in 1938, don't forget that thecamo at that time was 2/3 dark grey and 1/3 dark brown. If for the Battle of France, you would need a unit that had Panzer I's at that time. And if for Barbarossa, you may not need to change anything - just verify that the LSSAH still had Panzer I's.

I use mine with Fields of Battle AFVs even though the symbol is wrong for LSSAH in 1940.
