Now that the discussion of prices have slowed....I have always wondered when I will have enough K&C toy soldiers ......some will say never enough.....I tried once to make a list with pictures for insurance reasons and gave up .....hard to believe I know ......I took over my son's bedroom in the basement when he moved out and filled it cabinets .......now with the what i have there is virtually no room left...I have stopped buying 8TH Army ..Afrika Corps.....British D Day...German Bulge ...LAH ....German WW2...Luftwaffe.....Crusades....Civil War....and Kriegsmarine .....the only ones I still try to cram in and will still buy are RAF...and Ancient Egypt.....I am just afraid even though I love this hobby when will enough be enough......that is also a reality check.... no need to comment just my thoughts ......thanks for reading.....P.S. not to mention the hundred's of boxes which is impossible to store any longer !!!!!!!!^&grin

I have one small acrylic display cabinet,3 free standing enclosed glass shelved furniture quality curio cabinets,and 2 display shelves loaded with figures. I would say 90% of my collection is King&Country with the remainder being CS and TG.
Here in west Texas the dust accumulates quickly in a home,therefore I refuse to display my collection out in the open.Everything is enclosed but viewable for display.
Out of all of this I have 2 shelves of open space left out of the 3 curios to display my incoming purchases.Basically left open for what is new and coming out in the near future. Once these are full I am in a pickle as I will be maxed out on space. And yes the boxes for all of the figures, planes, tanks are kept also. This entails my storage space is nearing its limitation also. {eek3}

Well I have a small bedroom as an office upstairs and its packed to capacity (or near enough)and so I thought I may not be able to collect for years and years ahead, but then my wonderful better half agreed in principle to us extending into the garage in the future for me to have a much bigger office....so I'm one happy collecting bunny!:smile2:

Are you sure she isn't moving you out of the house and into the garage {sm3}

Limited to 8 glass display cabinets, each with 4 - 22" x 13" glass shelves. Each shelf has a small scenario or grouping of AFVs or figures. A few adjacent shelves have double wide scenarios.

My 3 curios are located in the living room area. I guess I should be very thankful that the little lady is very understanding ! We are thinking about a larger house next year........My own display room......the plot thickens {sm3}

Mine are in the computer room only except for one in the hall at the entrance to the computer room. None are in living areas. There is no expansion room.

Physics states that a GAS will expand (given time) to fill the volume of any space. Remove the word GAS and insert the words .... Toy Soldiers.

With my collection being out in plain view it makes for an interesting conversation when new guests show up and start glaring at the shelves in admiration. Some think they are plastic models hand painted by myself.When I open up one of the sliding doors and hand them a figure or vehicle for them to better view they are taken by surprise by the weight and detail each item has !!! Great way to bring in new collectors into the hobby. :wink2: So I guess based on all of this like the old saying goes......You can never have enough of anything pleasurable !

Nature abhors a vacuum, and many collectors attempt to fill that vacuum completely. The limited or limitless size of one's collection depends on your state (status) - married, divorced or single ^&grin

Time to buy a bigger house ! {sm4}

I have the same problem with space! My collection is limited to K&C (about 60% and growing), collectors showcase, figarti, thomas gunn, william britains and forces of valor (no longer collecting) and luckily they are all WW2 which is all im interested in collecting. The issue i have is dust and humidity which is both an issue in Darwin (Which is in the Northern Territory Australia for all you international collectors).

But I will always find room somewhere when Andy continually brings out beaut new pieces (there's a plug for you Andy if your reading).

Regards

Interesting post.

I am not sure of the optimum temperature and humidity to keep figures on display for any length of time. Even with figures in closed cabinets, a thin layer of dust does develop over time.

If you can display in closed cabinets and/or store your collection in an airconditioned room, it probably helps, but then the power bill.....:rolleyes2:

Cheers, Raymond:)

I have a large room in the basement only for my collections {sm4}.

No exposure to sunlight, very low humidity, hardly and dust pet free and non- smoking!

So if any of you hard core collectors run out out of space for your LAH collection, I can kindly offer you some space here at my place.^&grin

So very very kind of you, no doubt someone will soon accept your offer ^&grin

I might add that humidity is only an issue in Darwin for around 6 months of the year. The other 6 months the weather is generally cool and dry. When it is humid, i run the air-cond for a period, but not all the time as it would send me broke.

The glass cabinets keep most of the dust out and i don't display any figures or vehicles outside of the cabinets.
