Hi,

I have just brought my first John Jenkins figures - BM-06 (Wounded Grenadiers), they should be here next week.

I have been long time K&C buyer and collocter (very very nice figures).

The JJ figures look very nice and the limited edition format of 250 to 1000 should keep there value up, the limited range should help also and you can buy the full ranges without costing $10,000 or more.

Does anyone have a comment on weather they are as good (similar) quality as K&C or better?

Also there size, John calls them a 54/60mm size or are they some were in between?

I will most likely be run out of the forum for comments like "Better Than K&C" before my next posting.

In my opinion JJ figures are as good as K&C.

Hello Aussie Monty,
the quality of the John Jenkins figures is as good as the quality of the fine King and Country figures. I do have a few of both of them. The size of the JJ's is a bit smaller then the KC's but they are displayable together if so desired. What I like about JJ is like you said the pretty limited editions, especially of the first few sets and the given subjects, that allow you to own a specific collection without going on and on. The King and Country figures are beautiful but for a collector with a limited budget it is quite a task to make a decision which series to collect.
So I am going for the John Jenkins figures and try to collect them all and beside them I am buying some King and Country figures, but only some small groups and only from the 18th century from their American Revolution series. Just today I got my 7th and last figure for a display of the 42nd Highlanders.
I have no doubt that you will like the "Wounded Grenadier Set".
Happy Collecting!

How exactly can someone be "run out" if this is an electronic media

Welcome to the forum. All opinions are welcome :)

I have all but the two newest Seven Years War figure sets and I am a loyal K&C collector. IMO the John Jenkins figures are better done in both terms of sculpting and painting.

However, its kind-of-like asking a parent to choose which child do they love the most or which child do they value above the other. I like quote from "Kingdom of Heaven" when Balian asks Saladin, "What is Jerusalem worth?" and he respondes twice, first with his hands apart saying, "Nothing." He then turns and walks away, then after taking a few steps he turns back and says, with his fists held up against each other, smiling, "Everything." Both answers are correct. Both choices are correct. The same applies to K&C vs. John Jenkins. IMO both are correct :)

And they are closer to 60mm than 54mm. There have been some comparison pictures posted on the John Jenkins thread. Check it out.

Again welcome:)

I love that line in Kingdom of Heaven too.

I this will come as a big surprize to most of you - but, I have started collecting John Jenkins as well - LOVE THEM!

My first love will always be King and Country. But, John Jenkins is a close second for sure. There is something about this figure which is a cros from the realism of King and Country and the Old Fashion Toy Soldier Shape of the past - cant quite put my finger on it - but, they are striking and those Grenandiers - WOW!

The French and Indian War is very interesting period and John Jenkins has some great stuff - I too like the limited edition nature of the sets.

King and Country is the Great Leader of the Industry and will always have that advantage on size and quality (with good reason) - but, John Jenkins has a place too in our collections.

So the answer to the question IMO is - Yes, but in a different way.

Welcome aboard Aussie Monty,

This may come as a surprise to you, with me being such a huge K&C fan, but I happen to think John Jenkins figures are every bit as nice as K&C figures. I discussed this with Andy Neilson and Gordon Neilson of K&C this weekend at the New York Toy Soldier Symposium, and they both said that they thought JJ figures are fantastic.

I must confess i have only seen these figures online, but from what i've seen they look superb.Very detailed and realistic, love the look of the British Gren wounded set.Oh god i can't start getting interested in the American revolution now!

Actually - there are for the French and Indian War!

Back in a time when we were the colonies and the british took us for granted. The interesting part of that war is the fact the British Regular Army was exposed to the same kind of warfare tatics that they would face against the Americans in several years later - but, never adapted.

I had asked Andy about putting out some more Grends. in his Revolution Range and his thinking about it. Maybe John Jenkins can move that process along with a few more of his own sales to show the interest.

Ron

My mistake!.Like the figures though, although i will not be detracted from WW2.(Apart from WW1 of course!)

I am going to get them all ! I must be insane starting all these line - but, the figures are great and with the Staff Car costing only $79 USD - I probally get four of those.

This is going to be a great range to collect and Andy told me that the House we have seen in the promo pictures of the new WWI range will be made too..unbelieveable :D

I know where your coming from Ron!.As well as WW2 i'm after WW1/NAPS and then theres ARNHEM and Louis has been telling me about WARBIRDS/AIRFIELD stuff.I'm doomed Ron i'm doomed.

Rob

And as if all that wasn't enough i've got my eye on FOB Dunkirk now.Sounds like theres some good stuff coming in this series later in the year.

Well my first John Jenkin's set just arrived (BM-06).

Been waiting to see if all the comments about them are on the mark.

Happy to say the figures are all that I have been told, even better.

As Sceic2 (Micheal) has said below, they are like children we love both KC and JJ for different reasons, but we love both for similar reasons. I agree.

I will be collecting JJ's as well as K&C from now on, in fact I have just order 7 more sets.

Just what I needed another range of figures to buy. I can see another long talk with the bank manager coming up.

I have been able to pick up all the out of stock set from around the world, but can not find BM-01. This is most likely a silly questions, as I have read another JJ thread about the BM-01 set and how hard they are to find. But anyone know were I can get a set or even three. Willing to pay a reasonable amount.

:) Aussie Monty
