I have the first generation polystone Tigers & Panthers, WS023, WS025, etc.

How do the newer models compare in size? The King Tiger which I recently bought seems to be in a smaller scale than these earlier models, yet the new Jagdpanther is about right compared to my old Panther. So I'm wondering, how do the newer Tiger I's (new Winter WS070SL, 2nd Wittman WS043, etc.) & Panther WS059 compare in size to their older siblings?

(No need to bring the WS015's into the conversation-I have those too)

I'm not an expert on the early KC scale, but the recent Tigers seem to be a bit undersized. Maybe closer to 1/32 instead of 1/30. I also thought the King T's were a bit undersized in comparison even to the 1/32ish Tigers, but from what I can tell the actual King T's were not much bigger than the Tigers. So maybe the relative scale between the more recent releases is accurate.

;) Hello Troops! New recrute here. Regarding TigerII or Noble(King)Tiger.
The King Tiger was built on the Prototype PantherII hull. More armor and the added weight requiring larger road wheels, ment the tank set up alittle higher and had a slightly wider tread footprint. It was alarger beast by a bit!
almost to heavy for the bridges and to wide for some village streets.

Hello to you too. :p

Thanks for the info guys.

It's really a great time to be in this hobby. So many German accounts are being translated into English now, and ex-Soviet records are finally seeing sunshine and the Russian side of the story is finally starting to be told (although mainly in Russian at the moment)

Andy told us at the symposium that he calculated the need for a 17% increase in size from the models he was working from (I think 1:35 scale) to get accurate 1:30 scale. However, he later (through experience) learned that when the molds were made, heat shrinkage reduced the models by 3% to 5% each new mold. Hence, some of the vehicles, especially those produced in large numbers with the need for several new molds (like the WS43 Second Whittman Tiger and the King Tiger), came out a bit underscale. He is trying to correct this on future releases by addressing the shrinkage issue via larger 3% original mold size.

Yeah, I'm familiar with wargaming miniatures & recall this problem from other manufacturers. Anyhow, I'm not complaining. The size discrepancy isn't that large.

What caught my eye was comparing the newer models to the 1st polystone Panther, which I calculated tonight to be 1:28, so that's why everything else looks so small.

 Hello Guys! I have been making a Statement Last Year, that Andy's Figure's and Vehicles, seem to be getting SMALLER! Now that Louis, has Confirmed that there was Schrinkage, in the Molds! I know my Toys, and I will Stand up for my Awareness, and Keen eye for Quality, when it comes to Collecting Toy Soldiers! So, put it in your Pipe and Smoke it! CIAO!

Also, the 30 cal mg on the Stuart, M21, and Scout Car all have different sizes...the latter being the biggest.

 Yes!! What ever the (slight) scale relationship of one unite to another. We collect because we enjoy the product as a whole. They are our own personal sculpture collections. And, sharing is the best part of all.

I'm sorry I don't see that as that big a deal and we don't know if it applies to every tracked vehicle or even to the soldiers. What matters is quality.

Welcome OldCelt. Nice comment. Welcome to the forum. You will fit right in, at least with me as you and I seem to share the same thoughts regarding this hobby of ours.:) :) :)

John, when you say"put it in your pipe and smoke it"who are you aiming this remark at?.

Rob

Maybe some of that flakey green stuff Andy tried to pass off as camo a while back.

You're meant to smoke it?
There was me chucking it all over my tanks.
No wonder I could still see them...

Yep quality for me everytime. And K&C excel at quality.Just look at some of the figures that have steadily been produced over the last few years. They just get better and better. The new WW1 figures look great and i'm holding my breath(and credit card)for the British paras.People can nit pick if they want but quality and realism is number one for me,and K&C has it in truckloads.

Rob

Yeah,i was just wondering if i'd done anything to upset him!.He makes good suggestions but just too many of them. And as you said Brad, Andy must get a little peeved to be constantly told what to release. After all he's managed pretty well so far!

ABSOLUTELY - There is no question that King and Country make the finest product in the entire industry. The amount of effort to plan, produce and market these figures is unbelievable.

I think instead of point out whats wrong or different - Let us applaud the fine folks of KING AND COUNTRY - Lets give them a pat on the back for "A JOB WELL DONE" - lets let them know how much we appreciate the opportunity that we collectors have to buy their fine products.

HERE's to ANDY, GORDON and the rest of the gang at KING & COUNTRY - We appreciate your hard work and dedication to the hobby. (Insert Thunderous Applause Here) :D

THANK YOU K&C GUYS - YOU ARE THE BEST.

Ron
