I have no idea who makes any of these...the last set with the guy holding up his middle finger, how long has this gesture been in effect?^&grin

Flipping the bird goes back at least to classical Greek civilization. There is evidence that it was used on stage, so it was probably in common use, just like today.

I have to agree with Scott...unless this guy just ran around with a shield in one hand...tauntingly "flipping the bird at the enemy"...I would expect a weapon was origially in that other hand...looks like this one broke off...

The set with 10 bearers and an officer carrying a broken down field gun could be Rait's Artillery from Nostalgia. I have never seen the set, so this is an educated guess based on the figures setting off on their right feet. I seem to remember that Nostalgia did this set at one time. It also kind of reminded me of something that Kingcast might have done, but their figures set off on their left feet.
