London Toy Soldier Show - John Jenkins at JJD UK (1 Viewer)

John will be continuing his whirlwind world tour on December 3rd, at the London Toy Soldier Show.
JJD UK will be pleased to have John and his 2012 prototypes on display for all attendees.
This will include the Dragoons, Rangers, new Sudan pieces and other models as seen on the first part of his travels.

We will be posting pictures in this thread in the lead up and after the London Toy Soldier show.

The Beja were fierce warriors, well respected by the British. Thought to be the first African people to breed camels, the camel was an integral part of their day to day life. Even today the Beja enjoy a reputation for camel breeding! Camel's milk was the main basis for food, as was the meat.
The fastest camels were reserved for raiding, and here we see a prototype of a New John Jenkins camel riding warrior!

Jones was born in 1870 in Walmington-on-Sea, and he joined the army as a drummer boy in 1884. Thereafter, he served in five military campaigns — the Mahdist War in the Sudan (1884–1885), the British Reconquest of Sudan (1896–1899), the Boer War (1899–1901) and the First World War (1914–1918). During his service on the Western Front, he was known as the Mad Bomber, due to his inclination to throw grenades madly. He was discharged from the army in 1916. He also once formed part of a Guard of Honour for Queen Victoria. Occasionally he mentions fighting the Pathans in the North-West Frontier (he is probably referring to either the Second or the Third Anglo-Afghan War).

In many episodes, Jones fondly recalls his participation in the Battle of Omdurman in the Sudan, facing the "Fuzzy Wuzzies" under the command of General Kitchener. As an aged veteran, he is extremely fond of bayonet warfare, and usually meets any queries about this with the assertion that "they don't like it up 'em!"

I'll be sure to keep following this thread, as I'd love to find out what else John is bringing to the Show.

I'm particularly interested in the new 7 Years War Prussians that are coming, and others from that particualr era.

I only manage to get to a Show every couple of years, its a long way from Australia, so postings on this Forum are my connection to our hobby, so please keep them coming

Will there be anything for the 1812 line apart from the howitzer at the London show?
I have a JJD British limber which is looking very lonely without any crew? {sm2}
We need more British Artillery figures and a limber crew looking after the horses. {sm3}

I'll see if I can get a few minutes with John. I have spoken to him at previous London shows and it's always very interesting.
I know Mike Miller has bent John's ear about the need for more artillery figures previously. So if I do the same maybe we will see some results in the near future.

Although I don't usually arrive there until about 12(ish). I'll just have to leave home earlier.
I like to have a good look around and buy what I want before I have a drink.
If I get a taste for the drink before I buy my soldiers I could end up with anything.{sm3}
