Bob Walker 5th Annual Open House (1 Viewer)

Reviewing my camera's SD card, I found one more photo from the French Room.

The top shelf (L to R) has a set of Bob's own French Zouaves; Hiriart sets 1180 French Foreign Legion Cavalry, 1923 and 1185 FFL Le Timbalier (drum horse and trumpets); and partially hidden behind the FFL cavalry sets, is a special add-on set of Arab Infantry marching from Hiriart set 1202 Fort Saganne.

The second shelf (L to R) has Bob's French Fusiliers Marins, Hiriart set 1145 World War I French Fusilier Marins, Bob's French Pompon Rouge Sailors, and Hiriart set 1199 French 514th Regiment du Train.

Here is a different view in the Diorama Room. Note the Ottoman Empire Turkish figures on the shutters.

Still in the Diorama Room, is a view of various British troops, including two shelves of Royal Horse Artillery Gun Teams. The set on the second shelf looks to be from Bill Hocker.

A Diorama Room self with sets from the Boer War. The Boer cavalry appear to be Britains while the mounted band is Hiriart set 1030 20th HUSSARS MOUNTED BAND. Partially visible on the right are Gordon Highlanders either from Britains or Bob's own figures.

I believe I have just about found all the photos on my camera's SD card from the open house. This one shows two Hiriart sets, left to right: 1323 ARGYLL & SUTHERLAND HIGHLANDERS, BOER WAR and 1321 BRITISH ARTILLERY ON CAMELS, KHARTOUM, 1885. Unfortunately, I had to kind of shoot down with my camera since I couldn't back up to get a better shot, so I am including two stock photos of these sets which gives you a better idea of what they look like.

It is absolutely a stunning collection. There are very few of us in the toy soldier world who have the talent, time, money, or the vision to put this kind of thing together.

Finally, I believe that I have found the last photo from the open house. From the Diorama Room is Hiriart's set 1050 THE ROYAL CANADIAN REGIMENT with its standard nine figures plus five extra figures. The two other sets of mounted troops in khaki might be Bob's own figures or unknowns.

These photos are from the second story of the Carriage House which is located behind the main house. The first photo shows Turkish Infantry that are Bob's own figures. Behind them are several Hiriart Turkish sets including an Artillery Gun Team, Navy, Camel Corps, and Lancers. The second photo is a Neal Rhoad's Turkish gun team followed by Hiriart lancers. The third photo shows part of Neal's gun team (on the left) and the gun and cassion of a Hiriart gun team. The fourth and fifth photos are also from Neal and show a Balkans War Bulgarian gun team.

Wow what a collection :)

Do you know where can I find Neil Rhoad's and Bob Walker's Turkish figures ?

I hope that they are producers otherwise it will be a big disappointment for me.

Yummy,

Neil Rhodes owns the Toy Soldier Shop of Washington, D.C.. I believe you can contact him at www.toysoldiershop.com. He made those figures as part of a commission. Bob got those Hiriart Turkish figures from me, but there is a Hiriart dealer in Italy, Stefano Allorini, who is much closer to you in Istanbul. His address is www.saimextoys.it

Thanks Mike. I knew the website but never paid attention to the owner's name. I will try to contact him.
I had already gotten those Hiriart sets from Stefano :) Thanks for detailed answer though..Actually I was asking the ones in front of the picture - I guess which made by Bob Walker.

Unfortunately, those particular Turkish figures were personally cast and painted by Bob for his collection. I don't know if you are interested in the Balkan Wars or not, but I plan to order special, non-catalog sets from that war starting in 2013. The figures will be based on the color plates from Osprey's Balkan War booklet; the first two sets I plan to order will be Greek and Bulgarian Infantry. Each set will have nine figures with an officer, national flag bearer, bugler, and six men, all marching.

Mike, many thanks for all your time and effort in posting these great pictures of Bob Walker's fantastic collection.{bravo}}

Buster,

Thank you, it was my pleasure. I am glad you liked them.

Mike,

Hi.

Which Greek infantry will you be ordering? Do you happen to have a photo/scan of the Osprey illustrations of these Greeks?

Thanks,
MikeNick

I am planning on sending this Osprey scan of Greek Balkan War Infantry to Hiriart when I place my order for 2013. I have also attached the Bulgarian Infantry scan, too. I have other, individual single figure scans to send also (e.g., Greek Infantry Officer, Greek Scout, etc.), but due to Forum size limitations, I can't attach them.

FYI: As soon as I post this message, I will open up a new thread regarding Bob Walker's 6th Annual Open House which was held this weekend. I have attempted to only photograph items there that are not in this thread. So, if you want to see his entire collection (to the extend that I photographed it) you would need to look at both threads. Thanks.
