What are your thoughts about K&C boxes? For the most part, I think they are pretty good. But I do hope that as time goes, more pieces will have their own unique boxes and perhaps increase in quality.

I was so impressed with the box for the SL Winter Tiger (which is the only SL piece I have purchased so far). At first, I assumed that all SL pieces had that kind of box, so I was disappointed when I saw the standard box used for the SL Rommel Halftrack. (I haven't seen any other SL boxes.) That box for the Winter Tiger really added a lot to the perceived value. I wonder how much extra it cost K&C for that. I’d be happy to pay an extra $5-10 or so for it. I think having nicer boxes helps non-collector friends better appreciate and understand that these are valuable collectibles for adults not toys for kids. (Recently, my wife referred to my local K&C dealer as 'the toy store'. In a sense, that view is understandable since they are called 'toy soldiers'. But it would be nice to bring a more mature perception of our hobby to outsiders.

I think Andy will be making more of an effort with the boxes in future. In the past he made some really cool presentation boxes, and the SL boxes lately have been moving back in that direction.

I agree Kurt

I think boxes do make the overall SL or any K&C product special.

Ron

I think its "just" a box and more attention should be made to the product you display. You don't display the box.

I got the Sherman SL set here recently and it has newer box- nothing too amazing there.

If you are interested in box craftmanship, I think you would be satisfied with East of India. Some of their figures come in special wooden boxes and have inserts discussing the persons or time period.

I really like K&C boxes. The D day boxes are very interesting and add to the enjoyment of collecting.I think by far the best box so far is the Winter Tiger(i won't even put that one in the loft!).I also really like the box the AK Opel came in,very nice dio on it.

Rob

Yea - these boxes are getting better - especially for the Napoleonics - a lot better than those little green boxes. ;)

OOoooooooohhh you wait until you see the K&C UK Exclusive Campaign Box's very colourful.

Three day debate about it between Mike, Bob and myself. I was on my own until Andy stepped in on my side and swung Dad over to my way of thinking!!!:D Bob came round in the end.

So button got pressed on the production of these today.

My fave box is the Winter tiger 2005 in black. Looks really cool and when we HAD (not any more) a mass of these in one place they looked really good

Tony

Hey they sound good Tony. Are we talking mid, late or early June for these do you reckon?

Rob

Rob

The qoute from the Factory and Andy is early June.

We have had confirmed the December releases now as well.

I will post at some stage what they are for all to know.

regards

Tony

Cheers Tony, will look forward to that.

I really see no need for fancy boxes since I throw 95% percent of them in the garbage. Just don't have the space to store them. Plus with the size of my collection it would take me a month to match all of the figures to their boxes. I've never had any luck trying to squeeze the figures back in their boxes without some king of damage.

I keep the boxes in the loft.On my eventual demise(a long time from now i hope!)i want my wife to sell my collection, and the boxes will add to the value.

TSB

you made me come over all weak and wobbly then!!!! You throw them away? i apperciate you reasons for doing so buuuuuuuuuttttt. At the unit we store any old ones from our display flat. Some do actually come apart easy (especially the vehicle ones) then all you have to worry about is the polyfoam.

Tony

I usually only keep the limited edition boxes, and a few older set and vehicle boxes. As far as the vehicle boxes go, yes I could store them flat. But I would just end up tossing the foam any way. I can't see not having the foam if I was keeping the boxes. Space is the problem. Besides I've found that if you toss some of the foam in the fire place and close the flu, the fumes seem to make me want to buy more and more King & Country and eat a few bags of Doritos.

That reminds me of the scene in ROMANCING THE STONE - when Micheal Douglas is building a bonfire out of an old drug shipment on board that crashed Cargo Plane. :D :D

Great Movie :) - "Ahhhhh Mannnn the Dobbie Brothers broke up.."

I think he's referring to the Crimea series.

The WW I boxes are also nice, similar in style to the WW II boxes.
