Recently received this beauty. It is one of the earliest KC Napoleonic figures of a Prussian Death Head's Hussar in gloss finish. I do not have any more providence on it then that.

Does anyone know what designation or year this piece was made. Does anyone know how many pieces were made in this group and possibly what other casts there were.

Andy, How about answering this one. I really love this figure and would like some providence on it.

Seems to me, mei Liaba, you've had some providence already, in winning the auction, but you'd rather learn it's origins ;) i scherz nur, congratulations on the find!

I like these older K&C figures particularly, they're much closer to their original Chinese style, a la King-White/Reeves or early Frontline, and I like that style.

Prost!

Hah Baron it has been a while!!

Thanks for your wonderful response. I am hoping Andy or Martin can tell us what year and how many other of this series were produced. I think there was a standing dutch lancer, but I know of none else.

Also I thought of you the other day when I was entertaining Kronprinz...are you familiar?

Ludwig

Hallo, Ludwig! I'm a little familiar with them. I remember when they joined the forum; that was my introduction to the brand. Of course, from the name, I thought perhaps they'd be heavily themed to German subjects, perhaps even Seven Years War. I'm not so much of a Napoleonics collector, so I haven't followed them too closely since, but they do make some fine figures.

As far as Napoleonics go, I have mostly King-White/Reeves figures, and some Staddens (some painted, some as raw castings), and the odd Niena figure or two. Mostly my collection is Seven Years War/18th Century, and Imperial German.

Prost!

Yes Brad!!

We share much the same likes as you have stated before. I as well love the seven years war and all 18th century conflicts. Unfortunately KC is not doing the Seven years war, the Franco Prussian War, and Prussian Napoleonics are something Andy is not going to do. Well there are other makers for these theaters.

Thanks for your comments. This figure is really nice. I would like to hunt the rest of the series down. Maybe someone will eventually post some information regarding.

GO German Fussball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice figure. You did not show us the base. Incidentally the word you are looking for is provenance.:)

Provenance, from the French provenir, "to come from", refers to the chronology of the ownership or location of a historical object.

Thanks for the English lesson...us Germans need that at times.....;)

The bottom is unmarked and unpaited. It is just metal like most toy soldiers.

Ludwig,
Congratulations on finding this old K&C glossy Hussar. I believe these were made in the early 90's and part of the Napoleonic series K&C did in gloss. Other figures that K&C made in gloss that might interest you are two figures of Prussian Infantry (same pose) with either Blue or Green Tunics. They show up every so often. Congrats again and Happy Hunting! Lawrence
