Cheers Tom - It looks a really nice setting for that sculpt - just lovely. Glad to see you have worked out how to post pics now!!!
Yes Matt - as an amateur painter - that little conversion (shoulder patch), would be a relatively easy one to do.
I do wish more TS sculptors would have a closer look at some of these memorials - as some of what has been produced is just stunning. I know some of them might be difficult to reproduce exactly (such as the one in Israel - which shows the horse landing on the front foot), which would be tricky. But almost nothing is impossible nowadays, to at least suggest the original version.
Good to see that these famous units, and some of their heroic deeds have not been forgotten. JB
Hi Tom - I understand the weight on the bags - just looked like they weren't supported there from the angles I've seen.
As to the difference in scale sizes between ready-made TS. Sorry chum, I don't know the answer to that one. I'm really a painter of (mainly) castings - so don't buy ready-mades - especially some of the more expensive ones that you mention. Whats a Delp, by the way?
I prefer to buy unpainted castings from (mostly) British suppliers like Dorset, Asset, ATS, Yeomanary - to name but a few. These are mostly 54mm and then I paint them myself. My greatest inspiration is Obee - who you may know of. I do repair old broken soldiers too - when I can find suitable donor parts - which is why I like looking at these bronzes - handy to see how they go together - and easier to see the great sculpting skills. Maybe ask your questions in the K&C area of Treefrog????
Best of luck - johnnybach
