Thank you for directing me to the BR site.....terrific to find that "Real" models were made from the comic...It was my fav when I was a kid and I never forgot ii...was lucky to find a few pages from comic on the webb.....anyway I can still make the figs for my own pleasure.....copyright can be a pain ...but yer gotta have it...I understand that......thanks again

Home Foundry also made a set of Buck Rodgers molds for homecasting, back in the 30's and 40's. The molds and castings turn up on eBay and at shows and flea markets from time to time.

Prost!

Hi...I posted this in the wrong place....it was in reply to copyright..I checked the webb a few yrs ago and got nix info on BR....now ..since I have'nt bothered to check...BR is everywhere...I did not know that Britain produced BR toys ..as per the comic....thought maybe the copy write had finished...now I remember that dreadful BR ,,TV shown....Treefrog is a great place to learn things...thanks for the info...Tom.

And this is what to look out for - if you ever see one on e-bay.

I. Is front of the box - and 2 - is contents which includes the most important bit - the mold. Looks like its an aluminium job - and I'm sure there would be plenty of advice available on "how to do it" - from our resident casters. (By the way - this one isn't the Buck Rogers mold - but it would look similar.) jb

Thanks for that.....I have my own casting method with Sculpry but it is only...1 D........actually I am trying figured a way to do 3D rudie nudie figures...a .work in progress...Tom

I should have mentioned that, too--the molds are almost always loose, without the box and the other equipment in the set. They make half-round figures in the style set by the Schneider Bros. of Leipzig. I have some of the castings in my collection somewhere. If I ever pick up a mold, I have a friend who is a collector of classic toys, and he'd make retro boxes for them and we could sell them at shows.

Prost!

A Dealer is born!!!!!!

Found this picture of a re-cast of an original mold on the web (3 figures - demi-rond). Box Art would be a fun thing to do - Good luck with the venture - if you go ahead - should be lottsa fun! jb

Thanks...Flash is another beaut comic hero of the 30's.... As these kits were sold to everyone and their dog to make their own figures,,,,could they sell these figures ?...was there some sort of understanding that you can make the figures..but,,cannot sell them.?.........back to the copyright thing again.....Tom

Tom, are those your sculpts in the first post? They look really fine.
Here's a link to the wikipedia page on Buck: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buck_Rogers(there's a section on toys, mostly ray guns). It looks like whoever holds the copyright isn't making much use of it. Frankly, I think it's a remote chance you'd be in trouble for making figures for a charity raffle. If you just change the name slightly, maybe? The Spanish figure kit company Andrea does copies of Norman Rockwell and famous pin-up paintings in 3D, and figures based on popular movies, without licensing- the Rockwell series is called Wonderful World, the movie characters have generic names, but are miniature portraits of the actors. You could call B R figures "1930s Science Fiction Comic Hero"....
Tim Richards was the last British guy to do 'rudie nudie' miniatures in a really big way; now he just does 'em on canvas. Several European kit companies have lines of fairly coy pin-up type figures; popular in Europe, frowned upon in English-speaking countries, for some reason. But that's a discussion we won't get started on this forum:wink2:.
Mike...Thanks for that..sounds good....copyright seems to be full of catch 22 and "You is and You aint"....you aint in trouble if you dont get caught and you is in trouble if you do get caught.......actually if I do go ahead and make some BR..I wont be calling him anything...no lables..no nothing...just a figure....in fact I will do a cartoon version...to heck with 'em..this copyright business is giving me a headacke....amazing ain it...the one fig I reckon is old enough to be otta coyright has flooded the market for about 70 odd yrs...anyway it is great to find BR just aint another forgotten comic hero.....Aust produced some bloody good comics in the 40/50's but they went out of business because of cheaper imports....I will post a few pics of two of them....but not on this post....I aint gonna retype all of this again........Tom
