In my opinion it is much better ( if you can) see the figure in real before buying it. I am lucky that I can buy them in a shop...Many times I went to the shop to buy one( previously seen on internet), and after seeing it in real I finally bought another which looked uninteresting in photo but very good in real!...Have you been sometimes disappointed buying a figure after only having seen it in a photo?

I absolutely agree. Toy soldiers are much more satisfying in person, when you can turn them and look at them from every angle.

I think some of the promotional photography often does not do the figures justice. It is not so much that I have been dis -appointed with the real figure, rather the reverse. I look at the photograph and think that its a pretty ordinary job and then am pleasantly surprised when I see it for real.

I agree with you! I have had some MAJOR let downs when toy soldiers come in the mail. I always like to look at them in person so I can inspect them with a close eye. Although I don't live close to any dealers so most of the time I do have to order them offline. It all depends on the maker for me as to what I can expect. I have some FL figures on the way this week and I am not worried one bit about them not being in top shape.

Mmmm, in my magic medium crystal sphere, I see that you work in a toysoldier company or like toysoldier seller, right? {sm4}

A bit of self promotion here I guess....I photo my figures to keep a sort of memory of them for down the track when I can no longer fiddle around making them.....some look much as they are....some look not so good... but... look better in the real....sometimes I look at a photo and think..that is awful...but in the real... it aint that bad....most times the figures look as they are.....it is the same with people I guess...some people look awful in photos but in the real look okay....a lot of fine actors never made it because they photoed badly......me how do I photo?...dont ask.......Tom

No...but you have caught me out - I shot Kennedy...and I am the Lindberg baby...no...wait I'm Elvis{sm4}

No...in fact, just offering a quiet little opinion based on rather limited experience. No grand conspiracy...just like the hobby and enjoy almost all of what I see by all makers. I'm just a positive kind of guy!{sm4}{sm4}

The best photos are the one that you can "rotate" the figure / vehicle 360 degrees and sometimes tilt it forward and back.

With ONE static shot you can never quite get to see the detail and shading.

Guess it is expensive to time consuming to do those 360 degree shots?? ^&confuse

However to answer your question ... I always see before I buy. Not because I have ever been stung but I live near a few of dealers so I can take a peek.

Also, the shows help a lot.

Not to debate the fact, but I have bought items and they looked better in person when they arrived than in the photo's. Seeing everything in person before buying
is the obvious way to go when possible :wink2:
