They just cannot leave anything alone can they?! (1 Viewer)

NO..NO..NO They can't be serious!!!! that is just wrong..wrong and wrong.........:mad::mad:
Wayne.

Wayne, its wrong on so many levels! Who would even want to watch that?! Miranda Hart has become very popular over here and is seen as a rising star, I cannot imagine anything worse for her career than trying to play a female Capt Mainwaring, its naff beyond belief, any remake would be dodgy, but this?!!!{eek3}:mad:

Sounds like it will be worse than Jaws 3!

If I can resort to a quote - 'Don't panic, don't panic'.

The Nazi Party did this in the early days - they would broach an idea in a letter to the editor and gauge the mood of the people by the tone of the responses. They have mentioned the unthinkable - a female playing the lead role - and immediately they have publicity. This is much the same as the search for Scarlett, who is the next James Bond and so on.

If I can make a prediction - if the remake goes ahead the part will go to a well known, but not famous English TV actor with a solid background in regional theatre, perhaps some Shakespeare, even pantomine. He will speak respectfully of the seies while making a human connection with it- - for example 'I watched it with my granddad who had been captured by the Germans on Crete and we both loved it'. The actor will then say he will remain rerspectful but bring a touch of himself to the role.

The makers of the series had to consider the sensitivities of the audience in 1968, many of whom had lived through the Blitz or had grown up on the stories of it. This time we are one, two or even three steps removed. They will need to be aware of the sensitivities of those who loved the show and feel some ownership of it.

Just make sure they don't cast George Lazenby. On behalf of all Australians, we are very sorry about that.

Jack as usual you go straight to heart of the matter, all those years of trying to educate young lads (the polite term) who completely ignore you and gesture obsenely when your back is turned has not dulled your ability to see beyond the dross (at least as far as I can tell) soon, soon you will be free! free as a bird to soar or something like that.....:wink2:{sm3}

Apology accepted, the Ashes, Neighbours, Rolf Harris , all these things we've gotten over (even grown to love)as a nation, but Lazenby as Bond....that hurt ! Mind you so did Roger Moore's eyebrow raising school of acting on occasions!
