Hello Everyone,

I picked up these Ancien Regime flag bearers recently, and though I have seen the type before in Paris, I am not exactly sure who made them. I was leaning towards AG as the manufacturer with a date in the 1930s, but a friend who saw them thinks they might be early Guy Renaud? Any ideas?

Cheers

I would recommend getting in touch with Doug Luna (if you don't know how to contact him drop me a PM and I will try to put you in touch). I know he has a large collection of Lucotte & Mignot figures (out of a collection exceeding 11,000 figures), and have heard stories about his son as a child snapping the flags off of similar vintage flagbearers to make a father's day gift for him, so he may have them and be able to provide some information on who made them.

Uh-boy...

I haven’t been able to identify the figures below either which somewhat resemble yours. Mine are plastic and for awhile thought they might be by Starlux but with wooden bases??-just don’t know…..

Roan,

I think I can help you out with those. I believe those to be Segom, a French company that made very lovely plastic hand painted toy soldier, I think in the 60s and 70s. The flag bearers they did are really quite nice. I have one that I bought in a Flea Market in France, but they are pretty hard to come by over here. I am guessing the going rate is about 25 dollars for the flag figures, but it could be more.

Hope this helps.

Appreciate the info!-I've been wondering about the make for years-and you're right about the timeframe-got them in France in the early 60s.

A flea market in France? Way cool. Do the fleas there hang around , drink wine and act bored ? Ah Pairee....:)

If you haven't been to the Paris Flea Market at the Marche aux Puces, you're missing one of the great treats in life. I've been there a couple of times. There are a couple of great military stores, not to mention many other things.

I've been. It was really cool. I bought a pair of WWI French Military Binoculars as a gift for my then law partner.

Growing up, my parents were adamant about my speaking French and English interchangeably (don't ask me why, we don't have a drop of French blood in our family), so I spent many the summer traveling around France. My favorite time of year is still August in Paris...everyone is on vacation, and the city is yours for the taking. I have many fond memories of tramping around and getting lost in the marché aux puces. I can still remember where every figure was found, dusty and forgotten in some corner of a second hand shop. It is really where my love of Mignot was born and nurtured. Unfortunately, I was there last August and many of the old shops that use to carry figures have gone. If anyone plans a trip, however, PM me and I will recommend the few that are left, but the best idea is just to keep a keen eye, you never know when someone will bring out a dusty old set from their closet.

Fond memories.

Cheers mates,

Cole
