Toy Soldier Museum. (1 Viewer)

If anyone is in Europe, or planning on a visit, I can thoroughly reccomend a visit to Compiègne, an hours train trip from Paris, where they have Musée de la Figurine Historique, which hosts 150,000 figures !!!!

These are website (in French) about it

http://www.napoleon.org/fr/magazine/musee/files/Musee_Figurine_Historique-Compiegne.asp

We stayed overnight here, leaving the hire car after an enjoyable week or two around Belgium and Northern France, and spent a ful day in the town seeing the museum and the chateau, before heading into Paris and fly home.

Another museum I have head about is one in Holland, and these are links to sites for that one:

That is on the next list of things to do in Europe :)

Indeed, stop hinting as it is well beyond my skill range.....{sm2}
Wayne.

I wasn't hinting but rather was just observing that anyone who was clever with their hands and had the time and inclination and acting under the direction of someone like Bob, would find it financially worth their while. This would be particularly true because Phil would buy one as well and it might require a basic display cabinet built to size. It looks like a big piece of MDF with windows and doors cut into it, a few balconies and additions to make it look like a brick building. I'd do it except that I can barely dress myself.

On an unrelated matter, Bob is discussing having a workshop on the Australia Day weekend. This 'Someone' could get help from him then. In another unrelated matter I just received an unexpected bonus from my previous place of work (two really - they're not pressing charges!) and have some money just sitting there - all alone, with nothing to do. Sad really.

The base would be 6' by 2.5' and the back drop 1.5' high so the building and roof would be a touch less than that in height with two building facades 2' long. How hard could that be?

I forgot about this museum in Northern Fance at Rocoi, that I visited in 2010 and the old fortified town, where a famous battle took place in 1643 during the 30 Years War

They have 15,000 figures on display, maily all 30mm flats, showing the battle.

Well worth a visit, and to see a Vauban Fortess with is still in a reasonable state of originality.

In my google travels I stumbled on to this, for a fleeting moment I thought it was Howards collection again but no it is not! If you have seen it before, see it again.

I do not see in this thread that the museum was identified. It is Jim Hillestead's personal collection for which he built a home in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. Twice a year, he is hosting an Open House, which is a very popular event. It attracts guests like Ken & Ericka Osen, John Jenkins, Richard Walker and Ted Deddens to name a few. Treefroggers are also always well represented.

A visit to his museum got me into Toy Soldier collecting. :(

But I have forgiven him along time ago.

Btw: more photos of Jim's collection in my TF albums.
