As some of you may have read on other areas of the forum Treefrog Treasures has recently shot a 30-second commercial to air locally on the History and Discovery Channels.
We received the final cut today and have put it on the web. Eventually it will be linked to our website but for now we just wanted feedback from forum members.
Because it is made for tv and not for pc it looks a bit pixelated at times, but ignore that and tell us what you think.
Here is the link:

We are very excited about this new venture and we think we can draw a lot of new collectors into the hobby with it.

Best regards,

Pretty neat! Sound track doesn't work for the Egyptian stuff but that must be pretty hard to find. I hope it is very successful for you.:D

Treefrog,
Your commercial looks great, the only problem I see, and it may be the pixalization is you don't get a feel for the fantastic detail.
I might think some up close shots of say the limited edition sets flashed in for just a second or two might make an excellent way to show the quality upclose.
Just my 2 cents, you guys are the ones building this successful business.
Congratulations for expanding your multi-media empire.
WORLD DOMINATION!

Awesome on my new PC that plays TV it was HD crystal clear and looked brilliant.

Welldone............American Voice overs are so good for adverts.

Now i wounder if Shaun Bean wants to do a voice over for a UK site.........:D

Maybe you should put in tha the figures are metal. I have brought two of my friends to a toy soldier shop and they both thought they were plastic

Looked great, but I couldn't get any sound. I also agree that specifying the figures are hand painted metal would be a good idea.

great spot.. using peters link, i got sound also. congradulations TREEFROG

The sound was awesome. There were clashes of swords and bangs of the guns etc and the Egyptian shot had the chatter of forign tounge.

My marketing head says leave it as it is.........reason if you have to call to find out if they are plastic or metal then at least you called! and treefrog get a prospect!

plus also it is not a K&C advert it is a Treefrog advert and they sell plastic!

In TV mode it looks really good and sounds awesome.

I'm curious to know of any other toy soldier TV commercial that a dealer or manufacturer has made. Has it ever been done before? I know it's been much discussed.

Could this be the first Toy Soldier commercial??

Forces of Valor has done a commercial on the Discovery Channel Group in the last year or so. But yours is really much cooler. They used the "tug-at-the memories of being a boy, again." I like yours much better. It covers more time periods and has the really neat dios. BRAVO ZULU HHR and Prince Peter :cool::cool::cool::cool:

So did anyone get the point of the hand in the video? It is to subtley show scale. I was just a wee bit concerned people might take it as sloppy editing instead of showing the size of the figures.

Meet Pete Reuss--pastor, Treefrog CFO and now...hand model:D.

I know offers of hand model work will pour in now. Hopefully he'll still have time to fill out the paychecks around here now that his hand is famous.
Maybe our employees will quit cashing their paychecks and preserve the autograph of the famous hand-model Pete.:p This could work out well for everyone!

Hi Shannon,

I think your commercial is great, but I have several observations to make. I have listed them below:

1.) I think the use of Pete's hand is extremely important for anyone viewing the commercial who is not familiar with the scale of these figures. The use of Pets's hand does not look at all sloppy to me. I think it is a nice touch.

2.) I am impressed that you do not refer to "military" miniatures. Leaving out "military" allows for a broader range of miniatures.

3.) I am concerned, however, that all the figures you use in the commercial are K&C figures. I understand they are your largest seller, but would not a greater diversity of manufacturers do more justice to both your suppliers and your existing customers? Utilizing only K&C figures may make your commercial appear to be a K&C commercial with the Treefrog logo added. I would hope the emphasis would be placed on Treefrog and not on a single, specific manufacturer.

All in all, I think you have done a superb job. I hope the commercial accomplishes all the things you hope it will and more!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

I think this is the first Toy Soldier Shop TV commercial that I have seen or heard of - maybe there have been another - but, I havent heard or see it.

The commerical is Great ! I think your photography is sharp , moving and inviting - good work.

I know some of the Anti - King & Country folks have popped off - but, lets face it the public will be drawn to the best and K&C is the best. Great range of periods and it invites several historic buffs to see there favorite period.

MY ONE SUGGESTION:

Your opener of the ad should be "TREEFROG TREASURES" - you should mention your company name at least three times for a memory trigger - thats hard with a 30 sec. ad - but you could do it with TWO the way you have it now with a sharp opener - then soundboards & logos and then go to the closer.

I really like the logo display and the click of the mouse to change scenes - very creative.

I don't want this thread to turn into one of those pro or anti K & C situations. Frankly, this is an ad that is targeted at people who probably don't buy toy soldiers. They, in all likelihood, won't know K & C from Britains or vice versa (although if they're like myself before I became a collector, I had heard of Britains but not K & C). The ad doesn't mention any company's product and when Shannon mentioned the project to me awhile ago, they purposely didn't mention a product.

Notwithstanding what I just said, I think Pat's idea is a good idea to have a variety of manufacturers in there. However, since they've already shot the ad, it may be expensive to change it at this point.

Brad

I disagree.

I think you focus on what sells - King and Country Sells - this ad does that.

To be honest I have never understood the negative reaction to King and Country ? - it is the biggest seller in product, it is the most viewed on the forum and it is the most talked about figures throughout the forum.

I guess kicking the big guy is the "In Thing" - I simply have more respect for the Man and the Product.

Shannon - this ad is great the way it is and has wonderful editing - congrats.

Ron

Hey guys (and gals),
Thanks for all your feedback and suggestions. If this ad is successful we plan to make more and we will incorporate all the great ideas you have been posting. In this first ad we used products from three manufacturers. In following ads (assuming we do more) we plan to show a variety of lines including glossy and 54mm.
Four dioramas in 30 seconds was already so much information overload we kept it simple to using one scale, finish and line. We wanted to pop the viewers' minds at the possibility of what they might find at treefrogtreasures.com but not explode it completely with complete sensory overload.
We will keep you posted on the reaction it gets on tv.
Thanks again for all the feedback-keep it coming!

Shannon

What is your buy on Cable? Are you just doing spot buying ?

Ron

We're not 100% set yet (still have to talk to the ad placement guy), but I think we will be doing spot buying. We'll look over the lineup and decide which shows have the best audience that we're looking for. Right now we're focusing on Rochester, MN, but if this works well we might roll it to other places. We'll have to see.

Funny thing....we have DirecTV, so we won't even get the ads in our own home...
