Hi All,

I have been doing a lot of poking in our local flea markets and I found a pair of very interesting mounted Germanic lancers. They are hollow cast and if I am any sort of judge predate WWI. I will post photos soon so perhaps I can get a bit of help from some of my more knowledgeable friends here. In the mean time I am looking for any sites where I can look at photos of figures from Heyde or other turn of the century makers. The horse they are mounted on is very much like the early Britain's galloper but they have no marking I can find. So if anyone has any good sites I can peruse I would be grateful for some help.

Thanks

Dave

Check out some nice photos in this link Dave - there are a few lancers shown there - might help a bit. jb

Dave, if you can get pictures posted, I can look in my references, like Dr. Roer's book, and see if I see anything similar. But I think Mike is correct, I don't think Heyde made any hollowcast figures, in any of their sizes.

Prost!

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies. @Johnny, the link is very helpful and in the photo of the Foreign Legion and Arabs there is a galloping horse in white with an Arab rider that looks exactly like the pair of horses I have, just a different rider. I will certainly try to post a photo today.

I wish there was a site that had more detailed information on Heyde, it seems odd to me that no one has tried to document the product of this company. While this would be a massive undertaking since they made so many figures and a wide variety of scales it would be very helpful to those of us who are interested in them. As far as were they all Solid cast or were some hollow cast I cant say for sure but I would expect that the Germans would have been very interested in the technique once WBritains came up with it. Anyway I will try and get the camera out today and take a shot or two of these guys.

Dave
