After seeing my first collection of toy soldiers some 40 years ago I finally was able to collect my first ones Friday July 26. They are very rare around here so I was very happy to get mine and finally start collecting. My first 3 pieces are from the same company called Britians. The first is an equestrian english solider on a white horse. The second is also an equestrian piece with what appears to be a Russian Cossack officer. The third is a highland solider with a rifle on his solider and is walking. The paint is very very bright and the sporran is not painted. Also the kilt has no tartan on it. The tunic is red with no identifying marks and the face paint is very sloppy making me think that the paint is not original. There is also no facial features highlighted and there is not enough wear marks to suggest that the paint is original as well. All 3 pieces have the same paint issues. Will it hurt if I was able to repaint these? Also what type of paint do I use? I have no interest for resale but these things look like they were painted by a 5 year old. I just want to make them look good and accurate. My price for getting these was 10 dollars Canadian for all three. Not a bad find at all if you ask me. Not that I have the bug I have to get more lol.

New guy says Hi new guy!

"Hi!" from the East coast.
Sounds like a really good price. I never seem to find used Britains in Canada but have had lots of success in the USA. Most visits to flea markets or antiques mall seem to turn up one or two.
