Just a perspective point given some of the comments on some of the threads. I am not crawling when I say how good a job he has done. I blame him personally for my bank balance, after Herr Chancellor.

I just think some of the criticism is over the mark given the products we have been eager to buy - think about what it will mean if and when he retires or sells up - what would the forum say then?

I have often said i hope he never gets so fed up with complaints that he throws up his hands and says stuff it.Hopefully that won't happen because the business he gets from here is only a small part of the overall picture. However you can't blame him if now and then he has enough of criticism. If he was to,well the best toy soldier company in the world would no longer exist, simple and stark.

Or worth a fraction of its present value, if something else comes along and people loose interest. I'd rather not take the risk, so lets keep Andy healthy and working on K&C!

Perhaps we should start a contest and or search to find a suitable apprentice & future successor for Andy & his Squadron so that the legend may live long and prosper!

Tally Ho,

If I have said anything critical of KC it's to help them, by no means meant to take anything personally. I have never met the man but I can gauge from his emails that he seems reasonably levelheaded and takes comments in the proper context. At the end of the day, if I am Andy, what do I really care about what some former Currahee trooper turned CPA really cares what I am doing with my company? :D

I think we all hope and pray that he decides not to pullout and close up shop. I would be completely shocked if he were to decide to do that- he is making good money doing something he really loves. Besides, he also impresses me as someone who is tough and I guarantee anyone here that the challenges he has to face on a daily basis dealing with the rigors of running a business probably make him think "Why am I doing this?" far more often than what his current body of collectors say.

But yeah, these hypootheticals of him leaving or the quality of the figures going to the dogs to me are just abstract thoughts and just not going in the direction of the corporate philosophy. There really aren't any signs anywhere along the way to even remotely hint at these things happening.

I certainly hope he stays around for awhile. If not, fine, everyone deserves a break and to take some time and enjoy a rewarding retirement- if he chooses that, I will wish him well but it won't stop me from pursuing other KC figures I need or other companies.

Bottom line, I have a ton of respect for KC's work and I look forward to collecting these figs for many many years.

STANDS ALONE!!

At many of his talks at the Chicago Toy Soldier Show and the West Coaster, Andy has oft repeated the following:

I'm the luckiest person alive ... I get to play with toy soldiers for a living ... I have lots of fun, and meet many wonderful collectors at these shows, many of whom I now call friends ... I cannot imagine doing anything else ...

Please note I am just paraphrasing Andy's comments because he might have said he was the luckiest "bloke" alive.:)

:D NO. I think it was chap..luckiest chap alive!"

Goodness we find a lot to worry about these days! What if the sun goes super nova tommorrow and we see our toy soldiers melting just before our eyes burn out of their sockets? It's a hobby after all.

Binder,
I'm with you man.
Maybe we need to run a risk assessment and apply for some professional counciling given the stress all this speculation causes us......:rolleyes:
Think Tony Neville said it all yesterday on another thread when he pointed out a few of the baaaaad things that are actually going on in the real world.:eek:
Still, a forum is a forum, and I guess people are allowed to worry themselves sick......I suppose.

Louis brings up a good point a few posts back. Collectibles don't always go up in price. Years ago I collected Chilmark pewter, the Civil War series. These beautifiul detailed pieces had quite a following. However, when Chilmark folded, so did the interest of collectors and hence the secondary market pretty much collapsed. Anyone interested in a matched set of the Adversaries? Lee, Grant, Jackson, and Sherman.
