I bought two of these a couple of years ago. Both have developed the same problem. They start taking longer and longer to turn on. Eventually they don't. They keep trying too, but it doesn't happen. One is completely kaput. The other I have to turn on over and over again. Thinking this an odd coincidence, I checked the web and discovered that this is a common problem with Samsung TVs of which they have been made aware. The only fix is an expensive one and generally not covered by the warranty by the time it starts to occur. In fact, it is so common that a class action lawsuit has been filed against them. Bottom line - don't buy one.

I have one but that hasn't been the issue with us. A few years ago, it started developing horizontal lines at the bottom of the screen, first one, then two and so on. It's mostly confined to the bottom but I know that one of these days we will need a new one.

I get those lines too when I first turn the TV on. When I turn it off and then back on they usually go away. The problem with the capacitors apparently affected millions of their TVs. In the time honored tradition, at first they denied it, then they tried to claim it was not a widespread problem, and then they settled without admitting any wrong doing. But unless you live in Oklahoma, you are out of luck. I'll never buy another of their products just on principle.

Nothing lasts anymore. I have two Samsung TVs (so far, so good). Previously, I had a Sony Trinitron that lasted 15-years. At the time, my kids begged me to buy the "new" LCD TV. It seemed I was the only person on this planet with the old TV style. I recently changed my truck's radiator. It was made of plastic and disintegrated. In old the days, that part would have been made of brass or some other kind of metal and the cooling fins (core?) would be the first thing to fall apart.

I have three of their LCD TV's. No problems with any of them. I also have one of their refrigerators, microwave's, and dish washers. I love Samsung, but I did have an issue with icing in my refrigerator's ice maker. A hairdryer on the fill tube fixed it.

Doug...I have a Samsung 63"...it's 5 years old...within the last month...I noticed one small white dot on the screen...it bugged me so much that I Googled "Samsung white dot"...there were 100's of link with people experiencing the same problem...now a month later...I have 6 white dots...one of the posts said that once they start...they multiply like rabbits...there were also posts that said Samsung...to some customers...as a one-time gesture...would send a $400 replacement tube...but that does not cover out of warranty installation...I'm gonna call them this week...it's getting worse...I only have 6 dots so far...but................

I have two Samsungs, no problems with mine one is an LED the other a PLASMA.


Recently bought a dryer from Whirlpool and it died about 6 weeks later, I had to fight to get it replaced! Good thing it wasn't a DVD player otherwise it would have been plonked on their desk !!

I don't have anything made by Samsung. All my televisions for years have been Sony,
in spite of several sales associates trying their best to sell me another brand. However,
the Home Theater guys that install my equipment highly recommend a high capacity
surge protector. A big one, not a little strip thing.

they are not going to do a thing for me...

but they did politely tell me how sorry they were...

so I now feel much better...

My new strategy is to buy the cheapest TV without regard for brand names. My TV remote has like 50 buttons and functions. Almost none of which I use or can even understand their purpose. My ideal TV would have an on/off button, channel and volume. Three huge buttons like something out of the 60's instead of a thousand micro buttons that I can barely see. I also don't notice much difference in picture quality among the highest priced and cheapest TVs. And I will feel much better when it dies if I paid $500 instead of $1500.
