Again very nice work,i like the knocked out Tank (is that a Panther?)

Rob

Rob

There would be no Panther in Poland ... 1939. In fact there wouldn't be a tank gun of that length in 1939.

The round turret and the mud guard suggest that the tank may be a post WWII Russian T-55. This is only for discussion sake.

I still find the diorama very well done. Great photography.

No, it was a broken plastic soviet WWII Russian T-55 tank that my son had and his gave to me. He wanted to add some of his toys in my diorama and I have no choice, this why I decided to accept this post WWII Soviet version.

OldDragon was right !

Debrito,
In this case it doesn't matter that its the wrong tank for the era IMO.
It does add to the atmosphere of your dio though and I think thats what its all about. :)
I hope you don't mind me copying the photos of your excellent dio into My Pictures folder so that I can admire them when I'm off-line as well.

Experts, please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe the Panther showed up until 1943.

Brad-
That's right. I think around the time of Kursk. I couldn't quite make this one out as a Panther though - it might be. Regardless, these are some great pics and dios.

Ooops yes that was a rookie mistake:eek:.Didn't the Panther have mixed successs at Kursk, with many breaking down before the start of battle. In fact i think it was Kursk that earned the Panther the nickname 'Guderian's problem child'?.

Rob

Yep, the panther debuted in summer 1943 at Kursk to mixed success due to all the mechanical breakdowns. But once they got those sorted out it went on to become what many consider the best medium tank of the war (the T-34 being the other contender).

Regarding Debrito's diorama, I think it is excellent - very moody. But I will point out two more historical inaccuracies for Poland '39:
1) The pak-37 anti-tank gun would not have the yellow grenade attachment on the end yet. They added that later in the war when the little pak's gun could no longer harm main battle tanks unaided and was called derisively by its crews "the door knocker".
2) The brimmed m43 cap on the greatcoat-wearing fellow kneeling behind the pak (originally from the Berlin set) is incorrect for '39, when infantry only wore the sidecap. Now I suppose this guy could be a gebirgsjager (mountain trooper), who wore the caps that were the predecessor of the m43 even at the beginning of the war (though many also wore standard steel helmets), but then it should have some gebirgs insignia attached.

Just trying to improve a great diorama. ;)

Canadian Samurai, You are absolutely right.

I start my K&C collection and diorama with the battle of Berlin 1945 (see pics) with some Volkssutrms and some Grenadiers, as I posted before some pics. But my first figurines were the Großdeutschland (Blitzkrieg) so I decided to add to my diorama and create Poland 1939 this why I used also the pak-37 anti-tank with the grenade.

I will improve for the next time.

CHEERS:)

Sure, no problem, go ahead, if you want see more of then just ask. I have 10' diorama of the Battle of Berlin with almost all the figurines available from K&C fall of Berlin.

Cheers:)

I Agree with Harry, superb dio whatever the tank.:)

CS,
I know you're just making suggestions to improve the dio. And I'm honestly not taking a snipe, but the wasted Chancellory entrance is surely all wrong for Poland 1939 as well? In my opinion, it doesn't really matter at this point in the development of his dio. It's not as if its an entry in a modelling competition? As you say, Debrito has created a magnificent dio, has obviously had great fun completing it and sharing the pleasure with his son. It sounds like he's added whatever figures and vehicles he had available at the time so's he could show us on the forum what a great result he's come up with, together with the really effective and moody photos. I'm confident that as his K&C collection grows, Debrito will correct the historical inaccuracies and then we'll see an even better dio. :);)

Best Regards
H

Not sure what you're talking about Harry. The chancellory entrance is from Debrito's seperate Berlin photoshoot and doesn't appear in the Poland '39 photos I was commenting on. The backdrop he used for Poland looks very nice - Warsaw was fairly built up in parts and the city endured some nasty fighting - in fact it was devastated three times in WWII - during the initial invasion, the Warsaw uprising, and again when the Soviets retook it.

So aside from the pak gun, the T-55 tank and maybe the little cap, his dio is already on its way to being historically accurate. I think it's very good that he's tried to mix figures from different K&C collections rather than just use the "official" blitzkrieg figures - one just has to be careful about the odd detail. ;) Isn't that the point of providing our comments on these threads - to share our knowledge about history and help each other depict it more accurately?

CS,

I think the last statement summarizes one of the benefits of this place: constant education and learning :)

Very interesting all the replies, thanks Samurai for the support I think that my English is not that good.

There are two different dioramas.

One was posted with pics of Blitzkrieg in Poland on September 1939, main article, and the other is The Fall of Berlin April 1945.

Photos of the Reich Chancellery and a King TigerII.

Nothing to do with Poland in 1939, I know that!

The only reason I posted the Reich Chancellery is to explain why you will find some Fall of Berlin characters like Volkssturm and Volksgrnadies rand the 37 mm with the Panzerfaust rocket in the Poland diorama.

That’s all.

Cheer

Aaaah, You're quite right CS and I stand corrected. I should have looked more closely at what was being depicted in the posts.
Completely agree with your last comment, and hope that we do indeed help each other despite the occasional cock up.:)
