LeMans was making toy soldiers in the early nineties. I am only familiar with the ACW series. I recently came across two artillery sets which I will own soon. I am not telling where they are until they are safely in my grubby mitts.

I am interested in their History. Mike you are kinda the go to guy on new old soldiers . Any ideas? Catalogs?

The guy on the right is a repair and a LeMans figure

Another repair and Lemans

They use to come to the Chicago Show, but I am not sure if they do any more. Their table was the last one on the left outside the main showroom opposite Tim's of TNC. I bought and subsequently sold two sets of Union and CSA Infantry from them. They did not have boxes. I believe he was from New Orleans. They didn't have a catalog or price list.

Mike I knew you would not let me down.:)

I have about 30 British grenadiers advancing including a couple of flagbearers and officers from their American Revolution range. I like them a lot. They are not glossy, having a flat finish instead. They started shading the faces on their figures towards the end of their run and I lost interest. Somehow, the pale faces of the British trrops worked better for me. I also, bought their Crockett figure which I liked at the time. That was before, Conte and K&C came out with AlAmo ranges of their own. I prefer the Conte Crockett (Historical version) figure but, I like how K&C is producing figures based on real characters. Sorry, to go off on a tangent from what this topic should be which is Glossy Traditional figures...

I know the owner of Le Mans, Mike De Marco. He's a friend of mine and used to be a K & C dealer and he's the one who got me started collecting. He bought the business in the late 90s and lives in my town. He's not making figures. He had to move a few months ago and I'm not sure he's found a place to sculpt and paint. Not also sure he has any catalogues. Let me know if your looking for figures and I'll talk to him.

My mistake. The company I was thinking of was Lafite not Le Mans. I was a horrible student in French I & II. I bought the Lafite figures in 1995. They produced only ACW to the best of my recollection.

I am more interestd in the history and sets that were made. I have some figures and will have more soon. I would love to know what the artillery looked like. Maybe you can get him to join and tell us about his figures?

I bought figures from Don Weil and he is from New Orleans . He got flooded out and last year he was back at OTSN selling water damaged figures and his usual selection of castings.
I bought figures through the years from Don. He also had a art school in New Orleans and students painted his figures. I have his Civil War artillery. No boxes. He is also a retired LT. Colonel from the Marine Corps. Leadmen

KV,

Would love to do that but he's not computer savvy. I'll see what I can find out.

I have catalogs of LeMans in B/W of their sets. Try the Toy Slldier Co. in New York City. He would send out catalogs in plastic and metal. He carries most manufacturers' products. Here is his info. been around a long time.

Is this the Lafite guy or the LeMans guy? Is he still making figures too?

I have done business with the Toy Soldier co but have not seen LeMans listed.

LeMans was sold by NY Toy Soldier Co. Maybe sold out? Lafitte Co. I don't know but New Orleans guy sold many painted and casting figures. No boxes and his card just said Don Weil. He moved to Texas so I don't have his new address. Leadmen

Guys,

Please see my earlier post. Le Mans was purchased from the Texas guy by Mike De Marco of New Jersey a few years back. I don't believe he is currently painting figures. I have a couple of his recent pictures if you'd like to see them.

Here are photos of the couple of figures that I have. They are matte.

Hey Jazz did LeMans ever get back in the business? They made an ACW sutler set I would love to have. I don't care if it's unpainted I think it was one of the most unique pieces. It was of course out of production by the time I started collecting

I don't know if Mike is painting again; he's been having some medical problems. I will ask him next week.

Please do. I would like to know as well. I like the originality of the figures. Would love to know what happened to the molds.

I talked to Mike and he thinks his medical problems will be over in about two months. After that he will back to painting full time although he's working on a small number of things right now. If you're looking for something specifically, please let me know and I will tell Mike and he will see what he can do.

He remembered the sutler although he's not sure he can you one right away.
