We're the same Bob. Its a restaurant every second night on average. Rather than cook at home on the nights inbetween its usually something from the hot counter at Carrfours or Wallmart. Yum Yum. :)

Hey Bob

That's a Chinese seafood restaurant ... with all them live fishes & stuff in them buckets. Say .. have you been in HK long enough to be used to it ?

Years ago ... we took a new colleague, recently posted from the UK, out for a local Chinese seafood diner. Quite naturally, we ordered steamed fish, Chinese style. After the dish was served ... our UK colleague turned slightly green and didn't eat anything else the rest of the diner.

Just thought it was funny. Nowadays .. I never order fish when hosting expats unless I certain he/she is an old Asian hand. In Malaysia, we have a popular Indian curry dish ... Curry fishhead. Interested ?

Funny enough we had Chinese take away last night, the Kung Po Prawns were very nice.

OD,
Although I've never tried it, I've heard that fish-head curry is actually very good. Something to do with the cheek flesh being really succulent....:):)

I don't think i could handle fisheads myself,i don't like to be reminded that what i'm eating was once alive, never mind looking up at me from the plate!!:eek:

Well .. if you (or any other TreeFroger) are ever going to be around this part of the world, please do let me know, and we can have a go at Indian Curry fishhead.

Or anything else you rather have.

Its the Asian way Rob.
I was offshore in the South China Sea around 8 years ago. Toasted myself some bread for breakfast and caught this Chinese guy looking at me with a look of utter disgust as I spread the toast with some jam. Guess what he was having for breakfast - half a dozen duck heads. That's a true story, I guarantee it.
I also vividly remember the first time I took a Chinese lady out for dinner. She was lovely. Soft voice, well dressed, full set of warpaint applied, etc. We ordered fish and I almost fainted when the first thing she did was pluck out the eyes and wolfed them down. She then proceeded to crunch her way through the entire head, spitting out the bones as she went along. Needless to say, the goodnight kiss was performed somewhat reluctantly on my part.
But you do get used to it.
