Should it be published or not.....Surely Mein Kampf deserves a record. The one of the most boring, bad written book of history.I tried to read it, but it is almost impossible. Morover, most of the contents are small, early 20th century political facts .
They can publish it, but who will read it? It was unreadeable at Hitler's time, today nobody would not reach page 20.

You cannot buy an un-annotated copy of Mein Kampf in Germany the current one released has some 3,700 footnotes. There is not a page of this addition that is just Hiters words, and I doubt there ever will be a pure Hitler version of this book available in Germany which is not a bad thing IMO.

Here is something from German tv on topic for English speakers, well worth a watch. http://www.dw.com/en/3700-footnotes-against-mein-kampf/a-18972979

One thing is buying it, another is reading it all.

I personally do not know many people that buy books and do not read them. I think any buyer has an interest as to the books contents, for whatever reason !

With a book like this, a book that's in the news, I wouldn't be surprised if many buy it but only look briefly at it, particularly with an annotated edition; that requires a lot of work.

History repeats itself....

On another note, anyone who really wants to get a workout will find an original copy printed during the Third Reich, when the Germans still routinely printed books using the Fraktur font. I have a copy from around 1936; I think it was a wedding gift to a couple back then, which was common, after Hitler became Chancellor. But if you think the turgid prose is hard going, add reading it in that font.

I had a copy when I was a teenager. To say it was turgid was an understatement.

I had an annotated version of the Sherlock Holmes stories and although I'm a Holmes fan, the annotations were a bit too much for me.
