Andy is currently in Brisbane on the first leg of his annual tour of Australia. It was fitting that he discussed his new foray into the Middle East with a group of collectors who attended the 'Salute to the Light Horse' presented by the people at the Australian Outback Spectacular on the Gold Coast. Not only is it a new range, but it has the added attraction of being a post-1945 conflict at a very attractive price point. He has two takers in Brisbane already!

The flyer shows an Isherman tank, 6 IDF Paras, Moshe Dyan and a female soldier.

The figures will retail for US$35 and there will be a value deal. If you buy the 6 Paras and Moshe Dyan you will get the female soldier free. Final price on the tank, which comes with the two crew shown, not yet confirmed.

Release date May.

I'm not normally one to stray away from WWII in my collection... but this line makes me consider jumping in!

Suggestion for continuing these figures... The Entebbe Raid of July 4th 1976!

Andy mentioned this new range at the Collector's Event in Singapore in November,
but I hadn't realised that it was this far advanced.

it will be interesting to see what come from it, and its popularity with collectors ???

Oh man... another theater of conflict to collect :salute::

At this pace, I'm running out of storage space seriously {sm2}

I was aware these were coming, but I too didn't realize how soon - nor did I realize how much I'd love them!

Well for me it was a great suprise that KC producing a range about one of my favorites....Israel Army.

Both figures and the tank looking really good :)

It will be interesting to see in the future, KC produces the Mirage Dassault III, since they were used in Operatio Focus, one of most famous air strike on Egypt's airfields...

A Centurion would be a great addition to this new range. Keeping fingers crossed!

I did mention the Mirage to Andy and I got what I would describe as his 'never say never' look. That said, I think the expansion of this range is very much in the hands of the collectors. If it sells, things will happen. Andy himself acknowledged that he was very curious as to how it will sell. I know that there a few people in Brisbane on board already.

The rather attractive price appears to be a combination of K&C looking to keep prices down and the benefits of what Andy characterised as particularly good sculpts. They proved easier to paint, something about the shading emerging from the figure itself rather than the painter's brush (I am not a painter so I did not quite understand that but those around me in the know understood). In addition, the relative simplicity of the uniforms allowed for cheaper figures without a surrender of quality.

Andy mentioned that the Australian market is a relatively important one and has not contracted over the last few years of economic uncertainty. He had also considered the Australians in Vietnam as another new range , one which is still on the table over the next 18 months. As for a broader approach to a post 1945 range, Korea was also an option, as was the French war in Indochina but in the end it was 1967 that got the green light.

That sounds VERY interesting, and would be a very popular addition to the US sets, if you could find them?

Maybe on Andy's 2019 down Under Tour they could be released???

Also by adding rural civilians from SE Asia that could be coming (???) from the Fall of Singapore range, that could compliment these ???

I forget the exact context but there are civilians from some ranges on the way. There was the suggestion that there has been some alteration in taste that has seen non-combat poses (and the dioramas they permit) becoming increasingly popular. To our amusement one of the causes is the purchase of Christmas and birthday gifts by spouses and girlfriends which are more likely to be non-warlike poses.

I did ask 'Apart from the new ALH, what will be the next Great War release?', the reply.......'Civilians'. Which was the right answer.........:wink2:^&grin

Great War civilians! I can't wait! I'm curious: what would people like to see from the '67 range? I have already stated that I would like to see the capture of various sites in Jerusalem, including a figure of Shlomo Goren.

Yoni Netanyahu...

I was thinking the same! That would be a great figure.

I love the crouched figures and the $35 price point is a winner for me. Andy could reissue and repaint T34 and Bren Gun carriers for the Egyptian army in 67.
