FL-ickstarter Announced and Campaign 1 Underway! (2 Viewers)

Great idea IMO, chance for some guys to fill some gaps in their FL collection :salute::

Brilliant idea have just placed my order fingers crossed that it all happens.

Hopefully might extend to some of the AFV no longer available

Here!! Here!! Matt gave me zero chance of a remake of the Panzer III but maybe if we get enough fellas to join in the battle for another Panzer III we can change his mind.

Just to nip this right in the bud, we have no plans to extend this to armor. Sorry! And just to clarify in case that's too strong, tanks are a totally different animal (far more complex, less output, etc...) that it doesn't make any sense to go back and do something again when there is so much we haven't touched on yet. If we had only ever produced 20 Napoleonics there is no way we'd go back and remake something already sold. But there is both business justification for us and customer demand on those Gordon flag figures, so it's a win win.

Guess you can't have everything you wish for.

This is going to be very interesting to watch.

Very interesting move by FL and one I'm tempted by myself.

Would imagine that interest from here will be in the single to low double digit numbers so assuming that FL have their own production facility as opposed to other manufacturers who have a multi-figure minimum run.

Now that the Sun has risen and my disappointment of no AFV to be revisited I realize that this is a great idea for those new or older collectors who may have missed out on certain sets back in past, of course it also puts fresh funds into a company that I'm hoping will produce the Panthers, Tigers etc, so certainly a win-win for us all.

If interest is in the single digits or low double digits, we won't waste our time regardless of how and where they're produced. Small productions of those quantities could double or triple the cost basis. Hence why we're using this approach - if there is enough demand to make it worth our time, we'll make them. If not, we won't. So really it's up to all of you if you want these figures made and at the end, you can't blame us one way or another because those who wanted them made will either be proven right or wrong in *****sing the demand. :smile2: We're pulling for you though as we always want happy customers.

Well, some people will, anyway. Fans of Joe Walsh, for example--"I can't complain/But sometimes I still do" :D

Seriously, I think you're making good use of current technology to do it this way. And you're right--those who really want the figures can show their interest, and if there just isn't enough, that's business.

Prost!

I think it's a good start but would like to see more variety. I will wait for subsequent campaigns although I wish you success with this one.

Matt ,Please do let us know if it won't happen when the campaign is done. So we can move on, and go to other interests. Thanks!!

I'm not sure how the Nap sets will sell as I do not collect those but I know I've seen my share of collectors looking for the tank riders for some time now, I am sure that set will be in demand for a remake.

As I was saying in another thread, if this redo does happen, it might just open up for the inventory for the Highlanders, which is good for the dealers, because some of the pieces that has been stagnant, will move again, the Highlanders when it got released had thirty pieces being offered, hardly any Interest up to now possibly moving once more. If there are twenty standard bearers get sold, how many other pieces past the standards, will get sold?. Even if it attracts another 5 regular pieces for each of the twenty that got sold, that would be 100 pieces that was not going anywhere, until the standards shows up. And 5 I think is a conservative amount.
It is great for the collector, great for the dealer, and great for the manufacturer.

Think the income generated from 20 standard bearers would be too low to bother with.

The renewed interest as you point out would be an interesting addition.

I agree with you conceptually, having standard bearers available could help drive sales of the other figures. However, the Gordon Highlander figures still consistently sell without them (I know) and they will continue to do simply because they're excellent figures at a great price relative to what they'd cost to produce today. With every release we've done (French Line, Russian Tauride Grens, Prussian Infantry, British Foot Guards, etc) in every case the standards have sold out long before anything else and yet in the end the rest of the figure codes sell without them. It will be the same with the Gordons with or without the Standards, it will just take longer because there are 30 different codes in various poses and not all collectors want all poses nor do all collectors want 30 different figures. Sure it will be great if the standard bearers being available do end up driving sales of the other figures, no complaints on that from me for sure! But that's not why we're doing this, we're doing it solely for the Collectors such as yourself who want the figures and didn't get a chance to get them, not because it's big business for First Legion. It's more goodwill than anything else. I heard you guys say you want the figures and this is an opportunity to produce them for you in a way that makes financial sense for us. So for First Legion the "win" is that you and others will be happy and happy is how we want our customers to be because goodwill goes a long way. :smile2:

Don't get me wrong Matt, I am glad and thankful that your doing this, and for sure you can do other figures and still do as well or even more. And grateful that you listened and giving it a try. I mentioned in this thread or another that the pieces looks great, and just a matter of living without the standard or not, but,now its a chance to sell out those Highlanders sooner than it would have without the standards. Much like the British Guards, that I was lucky enough to have....
