Hi all,

For those of you who collect different brands of 1/30 scale soldiers, I'm really interested in hearing more about the compatibility of King & Country with Thomas Gunn. Please note my intent is not to point out negatives of either company but rather just to see how well they match. I'm considering a few pieces from each company to acquire some different poses for the same campaign. Scale/height, paint colors (shiny or dull), and facial expressions are some of my concerns.

What do you guys think? Have any of you tried this? Pictures would be esp. appreciated.

I think they work together well, especially in dioramas. Some coloring and size differences but not dramatically different.

I collect the TG and K&C Spartans/Hoplites...both very nice products...they work extremely well together in my opinion...

Rob, is this a topic that would benefit from being on "neutral-ground," the Matte/GD forum, perhaps?
Hi Moe,
I posted here because I'm really looking to hear from the K&C collectors. My 1/30 collection is mostly K&C with just a few pieces from Collector's Showcase.

I think they work together well, especially in dioramas. Some coloring and size differences but not dramatically different.
Thanks

Hi Mike, I honestly can't tell which is which from your pictures. They both look great and very much along the same line. Thanks for sharing.

Rob...K&C is on the left...TG on the right...a little different style in painting and shading...but size is too close to differentiate...

I see, thanks. A little more red for flesh on the K&C; and the TG base is a little more "grassy". They are close. Appreciate the pictures.

I can comment on 5 different series that I display TG and K&C seamlessly beside each other: D-Day US Rangers, D-Day US Paratroopers, Market Garden British Paras, Tropical Pattern German FJ's and Winter German troops. Scale, paint, and pose, they go together very well.

TG seems to have ended each of those series in pursuit of other creative pursuits (They got in some great Normandy FJ releases before the hiatus, though), and K&C has ended the Rangers and taken a break from FJ's.

The Pacific is not really my thing, though some great releases are coming out. I'm hoping that both will circle around down the road with new creative energy towards these older ranges. I'm happy to wait!

...Also, there was a diorama done and posted here a while ago of K&C US Paratroopers and some TG Normandy FJ's form the "Breakfast Club" poses that was really a great display of complimentary figures from two different manufacturers.

I think Guy uses both together with great effect in his dioramas. But I think statements cannot be made for all TG ranges, some are 1/28 (WWII) and some are 1/30.

I posted a DAK Diorama not long ago on this forum combining K&C and TG DAK figures. The major pieces were the TG PAK 40, the TG/NMA Sd. Kfz. 231 the K&C DAK Panzer II and an excellent K&C Rommel figure. The armor, gun and figures were size and style compatible IMO.

Julies excellent size comparison thread shows that the K&C and TG Romans are compatable in both size and style.

As far as vehicles go Rob, TG Sdkfz 234/4 on the right (commander is K&C), K&C Sdkfz 234/1 on the left. I have quite a mix of TG and K&C WW2 figures and vehicles and most of them work well together.

I really appreciate all the comments guys. Tom, really appreciate the pictures. Both vehicles look very well together. Beautiful diorama as well!

As As far as WW I goes, TG figures have improved and I believe they are compatible with K & C in both style and size. However, I don't believe that's an area of interest for you Rob.

Regarding AFVs I don't believe TG has made them in awhile so that may not be a suitable point for comparison.

Yes, I've been looking at their WWII figures.

Yes, none have been made in a while Brad (at least German) but there are still plenty of German AFV's available from dealers and/or ebay so I think it is a suitable point of comparison.
