I wonder if anyone could please help me?
I purchased 14 of these figures + an Officer recently at an auction in the UK, there were 2 sets of figures, one gloss and this one that appears to be Matte.
Would this figure be from a modern Matte set or would it be an older figure that has been repainted?
Any guidance would be very welcome.
Thanks

Tim.

If they all have that stamp under the base, then the figures in matte finish have been repainted somewhere along the line. Britain never produced matte figures, in the old catalog. But many collectors repainted sets of Britain's figures to suit themselves. Such a project was even the spark to start the British Model Soldier Society.

Prost!

The vent hole in the top of the fur cap is a dead give-away that it is hollowcast. Modern matte figures are not hollow.

Brad is correct - it's a repainted old figure ( prior to 1966). jb
