I have noticed that several forum memebers have been able to communicate their wishes for new/different figures with various soldier manufacturers. I'm a Britains collector, and was wondering if anyone knows the best way to communicate one's wishes or desires for new production lines with Britains? Is it through this forum, or some other way? thanks for your thoughts.

Dick,

Dave Namiot may be able to give you more info about communicating directly with WBritains but Ken Osen is pretty active here, Richard Walker a little less so. You could try sending either them a pm or posting here.

Richard from WB and the Osen family visit the site often to read/post and reply. Just go ahead and post. Or email them, they answer those as well.
It's really a company with a face so to speak and they like feedback:cool:.

Hi Dick:

Always pleased to hear new ideas. Can let us know in many ways - on this forum, through a PM or company email - richardwalker@1st-gear.com, or call at 1(888) 771.5576.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Richard

Hi There!
Richard and I often visit this site along with others. We love to hear suggestions from the collectors out there and although it may seem ages before some of them surface in a catalog, many make it to our lists. We joke all the time, that every conversation Richard and I have on the phone, our lists grow beyond our life expectancy. Add suggestions on a one to one basis from forums, shows and the office and each range seems to swell and take on a life of it's own...but that's good.
Over the next few catalogs we should see some new subjects added to our existing ranges along with some brand new developments...many from collectors requests.
Feel welcome to PM either of us, call the office, or post here and stimulate some others to add to the lists!
Lokking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks very much. I have emailed you with my thoughts. I appreciate your taking the time to listen. Have a good day.

Hi Dick,

Sorry I missed the earlier post but Ken and Richard have already let you know how to best get intouch with them. I hope you will share your ideas here with the rest of us from the forum, we have a growing number of Britains Fans here and enjoy discussing ideas for future sets.

All the best

Dave

Hi Dick,

I, too, want to encourage you to share your ideas for new Britains items/lines on the forum as well. By doing so, some of us may be able to lend additional support for them and further encourage Ken and Richard to consider them.

Another advantage of sharing your ideas on the forum is the possibility of facilitating some additional worthy ideas from other Britains collectors. I certainly look forward to hearing more about the ideas you have!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

I am a collector of vintage Britains boxed sets. I told Richard Walker in an email that in addition to myself, there are other collectors of vintage Britains who may be interested in seeing Britains put out a few select hollowcast sets made in the style and tradition of vintage Britains. Ebay auctions show that these collectors aren't hesitant to spend money for various sets. My suggestion was a limited edition set that stood on its own. Not a set that needed additional pieces to fill it out -- which additional sets were not forthcoming-- as they were either never produced or they were produced in diferent styles, or differnet boxes, etc., etc.

Hi Dick,

That sounds very interesting. I too enjoy the vintage sets but usually get smoked by the competition. I do have some nice individuals. What series or type of Britains does your collection focus on? I look forward to discussing this some more with you soon.

All the best

Dave

Britains (under RC2) did bring back the Hollowcast range and it didn't do very well. There were, however, some faults with their releases:

1) They overproduced, thus driving the price down to a pittance
2) They had a number of 'one off' sets that did not fit together
3) They didn't know how to promote it properly.

It would be interesting to see what could be done now that Britains is in competent hands.

:) HERE! HERE! O.C.

And, most respectfully, notwithstanding a superb 100 years of experience and excellence, their packaging wasn't the greatest.

I hate to belabor this point, but as the old saying goes "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Between 1983 and 1997, it seemed like Britains changed their packaging and boxes every year. Don't ask me why, because I don't have any plausible and rational explanation. All I know is, it sure didn't do much for customer loyalty. Thanks for letting my blow off some steam.
