Nicely done! They could be commercially-finished figures.

54mm Rose Miniatures (purchased from)

From whom, may I ask? You don't have to say, if you don't want. I'm just always interested in new sources for kit figures.

If they're from John Eden, they might actually be Hecker & Goros castings. I don't recall that Russell Gammage (Rose Miniatures) ever produced figures from the Franco-Prussian War. But Hecker & Goros had an extensive catalog for the subject.

Prost!

Yes,

I also saw these figures on John's EBay site recently, he does have a lot of 'remastered' figures from Hecker & Goros and Ulrich Puchala but they are are no longer available from those makers, therefore he is the only source for them.

John

Looks like he has some more Prussians up on his EBay site today !!!

John

Some of the figures he lists as Prussians are actually Bavarians. For example, the artillery sets he has listed have Bavarian gunners. The key to identifying them is the Raupenhelm, the crested helmet the Bavarians still used at that time. They kept the crested helmet till 1886, then they adopted the Prussian style.

As far as availability goes, true that since Mueritz closed up shop, no one produces Puchala's 54mm figures, and the Hecker & Goros figures might be out of the catalog. But Hecker & Goros are still in business, and Mueritz owns the rights to the Puchala molds.

Prost!
Brad

HI,

I think you are correct they are probably Hecker & Goros figures just sold by John Eden under his Rose Miniatures ebay site as I have seen an identical figure on ebay from the H&G company.

Regards

Gary

Nice work on the painting of these figures, you really bring them to life :)

JOhn

Reference the first figure it is based on a Hecker Goros figure a Vizefeldwebel usually paired with a Rekrut showing boots for inspection. The period is pre WW1 or early in conflict. (Sadly could not down load image). The soldier with rifle has a Saxon Wappen/Pickelhaube badge. Maybe it is John Eden but his site is down. I also think it could be by either Dolp or Piepp but could not find it.
Hope this helps

DSC04902 (3).JPGDSC04904 (8).JPG Achieved aim, eventually. The Vizefeldwebel is EWHG3 and the Rekrut EWHG4. I do not think they are currently available.
