In 2017, K&C released the new "Tarawa Line-Up" with several new reasonably prices US Pacific Marines. USMC011 Marine Flame Thrower was the first figure to continue where the 2009 USMC numbering sequence left off in 2009. With dramatic action poses, tri-color jungle helmets, and several figures with blood-stained wounds, these "Mud Marines" would be the start of an amazing new theme for K&C and WWII Pacific collectors pre-dating the now popular Vietnam collection.

We would see collectors like Robin (villagehorse), Steve (Horus), and others create some amazing and dramatic Pacific beach landing scenes with K&C's impressive USMC figures. In time for Christmas of 2017, K&C would later offer a "beast of a vehicle", the LVT(A) Alligator (USMC023) followed by a beautiful tri-color Pacific Sherman (USMC053) in 2019.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of collecting toy soldiers is the transition from purchasing those first initial figures of a theme to slowly building up a more significant collection. My Pacific USMC as well as IJA has grown considerably. Photographing 2-3 figures is certainly fun but as one's collection grows, it's also nice to be able to pick out favorite figures to create stunning personalized dioramas.

One of my earliest Pacific USMC photos (2017):

Expanding the collection with both USMC and IJA (2019):

Over the summer of this year (2021), I visited a pet shop while waiting for the Mrs., revisiting the Pacific USMC theme after leaving with a new fish tank and aquarium toys. Among my favorite pieces of K&C's Pacific USMC theme are the SE 3-figure sets (pictured below) and Pacific Sherman now on display in my office.

Still a current and popular theme, I look forward to new Pacific USMC figures with the recent expansion of the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) with a now-available Dispatch Rider (JN074), 5 new Japanese figures, and an impressive Isuzu 6-wheeled Truck (JN066) to be released in late August 2021.
Hope you enjoyed this flashback. Comments and images welcome. :salute::

Rob you've definitely done the Marines proud with all the scenarios you've done with them over the years.
These WW2 US Marines were the first range that I really got stuck into. These are great figures and a range still available for the most part without costing a fortune. These days though as you know the Vietnam range takes most of my attention and TS cash !{sm4}

One range that I do think has really been overlooked by a lot of collectors is the IDF range.
If I had an bigger TS budget I'd be collecting them too !
Lots of great poses in the figures and some awesome vehicles with the figures still being among the lower priced. Perhaps with the arrival of the T54/55 things might change and then I'll be kicking myself for not getting the IDF Centurion as well as the Aussie one !

Flicking through the old Tarawa threads looks like these were among my first photos of what was back then new releases !

These days the Bunker belongs to the VC !

It was Andy's brother Gordon, who graciously gave his tips on making the Palm log Sea wall for Tarawa.

Really nice to reminisce the start up of this series and how you guys continued to inspire so many with your wonderful scenes. For me, it’s a real pleasure to be part of this forum . Robin.

Think I best stop there as it's Rob's thread and late here and I'd enjoy seeing more of Rob's photos Robin. And you and Harry have done some excellent dioramas and accompanying photos and look foe=ward to seeing yours too.

Feel free to add, Steve. I certainly enjoying seeing your pics.

I went out and purchased a display case/shadow box for my Pacific USMC collection. These are not all of them but several as displayed:

That’s amazing Rob and certainly understandable given the overall value involved when you bring them altogether. One of the neatest ways I have seen to store figures without a doubt. Robin.

Thanks Robin, it hangs on the wall and has a glass door that opens. Opened it to take the photo.

Nice thread Rob with good shots of your past photos. Also some nice ones from Steve. I'll join the party and add a few of mine as well...
