Hi Guys,

Here’s a little ‘look-see’ at our upcoming Syrian T55s that will be going up against our Israeli Centurions and Super Shermans.

Two variations will be available with different hull numbers and alternative Arabic slogans.

As you can see the tricolor camouflage is quite complex and unique... ‘light grey’, ‘olive drab’ and ‘sand’.

Both models come with the same tank commander figure however its worth remembering that standard Syrian operation procedure was to advance with the tank turret hatches ‘closed-up’ and the commander inside the vehicle relying on periscopes to view the battlefield.

By comparison Israeli tank commanders often rode with the turret hatches open allowing for a better 360view of the battlefield.

This is just one of the many reasons the Israelis ‘killed’ many more enemy tanks although there was a high loss of their tank commanders.

Seen in one of our pictures is a ‘knocked-out’ T55 together with a couple of Syrian casualties.

Best wishes and happy collecting!
Andy

Great looking tanks....will the hatches close?

Not to be greedy but any possibility that an Egyptian version will be available down the road?

Alas a range too far, but great looking tanks all the same !:salute::

And a Happy Rosh Hashanah to those of our friends who celebrate it !

Outstanding, Andy! Love the details on your new T-55 and the camouflage is spot on!

The Syrian T55 looks fantastic! It will be a tough choice between this version and the NVA T55…

Those look really great Andy and a plus that the commander's hatch opens and closes.

This is my model of the year. I've wanted an Arab T-55 for several years, since the IDF range started. A big thank you to K&C and Andy Neilson.

Andy mate,
These Syrian T-55s are fantastic. Would any of our Forum members know how many T-55s make up a Syrian Tank Troop/Platoon. I have been trying to find the answer to this question for about 3 days. I have googled and re read every book on the Middle East Wars I have. May sound silly but this will determine how many of these beauties I purchase.

Don't you answer that question Andy as I know there wouldn't be 10 in a Tank Platoon.{sm4}

Cheers Howard

The armored brigade had three battalions of forty tanks each
Valley of Tears - Wikipedia

So if a battalion had forty tanks, a platoon would have 4 to 5?

Alexander mate,
Many thanks for your prompt reply. I received a email from a collector with an Egyptian T-55 Tank Platoon from the Six Day War. Egyptian and Syrian Armour were based on Russian models so I am going to go with that for my Dio of Valley of Tears. So four or maybe eight ^&grin^&grin Syrian T-55s to battle my 3 x Israeli Centurions and 2 x Super Shermans in Reserve.
