  • My friend Auguste Gande passed away on the morning of 14 November 2012. He never really recovered from the loss of his beloved wife of fifty years in early 2012. I will miss him greatly.
    Hi Auguste
We are hoping to start building our new house in a few months time so hopefully we will be able to display my collection properly.
I will be in Durban next weekend. Perhaps we could meet up on Sunday.
    Regards
    Damian

    Hi Auguste

Many thanks for your kind comments, glad you liked the pictures. You have some great Trophy figures displayed in your albums.

    Cheers

    Martyn:)
Hi again, Auguste, I have thoroughly enjoyed viewing your excellent albums, especially Durbar and the French Foreign Legion. I look forward to eventually seeing your Crusades album. I'm sure it will be equally impressive.

Thank you for your kind comments, Auguste. I very much look forward to seeing your own pictures of your knights, when you post them. Please keep me on your list of people to notify, when that happens. Thanks, George
Did you see how much the Trophy storehouse set sold for on e bay 3000 USD.
    Wow
Thank you, Auguste, for your generous comments on my collection.

Your Delhi Durbar collection got me into this subject. Which is a blessing as well as a money pit -but I would not want it any other way. I have not yet had the necessary creative spark for taking pictures of my DD collection - but I am working on it.
Many American Legion veterans groups put on a program of remembrance on Memorial Day and I well remember riding a school bus to each cemetery in our town where a trumpet salute would be played (taps) and after a few words were said the American Legion vets would perform an honorary gun salute. Traffic would be halted on the bridge over the river in the center of town and a wreath would be thrown in the water to remember those lost at sea. Many towns have a Memorial Day parade as well. I am happy to share my memories of this special day with you. Best regards, Shannon
Dear Auguste, Memorial Day was originally called Decoration Day because it is a time to put flowers and remembrances on the graves of soldiers who died serving their country. This has been a day of remembrance since shortly after the time of the American Civil War. Where I live it is common to put a wreath or flowers on the graves of any relative who was in the military on Memorial Day whether or not they died in action. My parents take the opportunity to put flowers on all their parents' graves on this day, military or not. My grandfathers both served in WWII and one grandmother I believe was in the Army Corps of Nurses.
Hi Auguste, Very very very nice dioramas! You really created something very special to display your figures. Michel
    Hi Auguste,

Thanks for the note and the information concerning your Durbar collection. As you probably know, the 1903 Durbar is a very special interest of mine. For you to have been able to build your Durbar collection in a period of three years is most impressive. Do you continue to add to your Durbar collection? If so, are you expanding the terrific diorama you have constructed to display/showcase your figures?

    Warmest personal regards,

    Pat
