So I had to cut up the base drastically to get the correct perspectives. Not for the faint-hearted modeller...hahaha.

    Project MR

The above pix are just meh, right? The visual perspectives arent quite there, right? So I have to change the base orientation to achieve the good results. This is the intended positioning but for some reason, the base wasn't right. I will have to redo the base a little to fit into the shadowbox.

Adding more of the horses. Each horse has to be drilled and fixed into the base. The drill bit always catches the long grass and this patch has to be removed to fix the horse properly. So it does take time.

Hello Steve and Lous, Thanks. Hard work still ongoing. Ive started to pose the artillery horses on the base.

    Gros Napoleon at Jaffa

I had almost abandoned this piece due to my inability to fabricate decent looking battlements on the bkgd walls. There is no way these can be fabricated neatly without some kind of autoCAD software. A chance encounter and conversation with a fellow modeller led to him offering to laser cut the...

Hi Steve and Louis, Ive mng to complete the harnesses on the front two horses. Added thicker strips to represent the leather strips. Also added a whip. Really mind-boggling work. However, these bits and bobs do "fill out" a piece and makes them much more attractive, though.

    Faces

Now watching a period drama tv series of the Qing Dynasty for inspiration. They had such beautiful attire that would make for some great displays. Three Qing mandarins in WIP. I resculpted the Manchu headdresses to give more variety.

I sprayed the heads in grey undercoat to better visualise the errors.

Some of you may be wondering why all this fascination with reviving an old project? Especially as the basic core was a mixture of metal and green stuff which I've tried to remove as much as possible. This creates more work for me but I like to retrieve every olde figure out of nostalgia. The...

    Faces

two more new faces. I added the manchu hair accessories. Then I focused on the first two figures. Added hands to both the bowing aide and the dowager holding out her wide gown. This is not obvious but the dowager was wearing a hybird wider gown. Most of her ladies in waiting were wearing the...

Sculpted two new faces. Well, this thread is called faces...hahaha

I spent a lot of time getting the shapes of the Qing figs and gowns correct. A lot of grinding, sanding and then putty fillets were added to create the many folds. Will work more on the faces.

After taking out my ref photos, I realised that the women gowns almost covered the boots. I just added putty all over to create the basic gown shapes. Found three strawhats (dragon and Aoshima) to make into summer hats.
