Hi Arty,Hi OzDigger, I would expect TGM ,as they do in other instances, do like W Britains has done to the recent 88, and provide additional garrison figure offerings....and the customer can either purchase them to be as close as possible of the original setting of a working gun or not...hence the economics/expensive part of the equasion, so mentioned by you is addressed... as to the accuracy...if you are going to cough out over $200 hard earned cash on a collectors item and not just a kids toy , you would expect some attention to reality..not sure if you have ever seen a 75 up close!! I have!!!Which lead me expose the contraption to those that are not as versed on the matter so they may chose to buy the offering or not...Personally I was very upset with what has been offered...check the pictures and then look a the TG offering..the gun looks more like the size of a mountain gun than an actual field gun...But then if you are not a collector looking for accuracy and historically precise reprodutions.... go ahead and buy the set.....all I can say is that TG had a great opportunity to nail a great new set and missed it due to some cutting corner move...the excuse that it was 2mm different is the type of excuse of someone that does not know their math and the effect of scale and ratio .....were they willing to get it right they would have stopped the project at inception and made the necessary corrections to have the artillery piece alinged with the garrison scale.....the provided explanations as to the varaince in scale is a very unfortunate way of trying to cover up for a blunder....which other scale model manufacturer in the recent high scale industry has come up and offered a disfunctional set as this one....?
I actually do have a record on this forum as being more focused on scale and accuracy than most collectors having a long term interest in the technology of modern warfare and building scale kits etc. My main interest is in WW2 tanks, especially German, therefore I am more concerned with the accuracy of those models. Clearly you are more interested in artillery, and therefore more interested in canons.
However the reality is that about 90% of collectors don't care much about accuracy, and several manufacturers and dealers have proved this to me over many years. Consequently when collectors like you and me rant about a particular item of interest to us, it basically 'annoys' most other collectors even if we mean well. I have found that it is OK to point out these inaccuracies initially, but fruitless to apportion any 'blame' to the manufacturer and keep on complaining over an extended period as most collectors simply don't care about accuracy, to them it's more about the 'look'.
