My M10 Arrived. Love the gear add ons for turret and engine deck. Nice touch of extras.
The two figures are well done too! easily posed to be well shown.
only one complaint.
The main gun breech block seems to be sitting way way too high in the breech??

when closed the top of the block was almost flush with top of breech. but this one is
sticking up almost out of the breech?
It's molded in so it has to be cut off and sanded down
with new loading ramp shape to look right. A little work on a $300 plus model is a little frustrating.

But with that done, it looks great!

I've already changed it. For them to do that would be to change the tool to mold the gun breech. Not sure they want to do that.
They could but all those models made now can't be corrected. I'm not sure they would be able to change those. Unless the breech block part was separate from rest of gun
but it looks like molded on.

it would only bother the extreme people like me.

Oh yeah, it could be. a very early one or something. I'm still very impressed with it, and recommend it to collectors as is!
Overall, it's a nice model worthy of any collection!

I think with the crew it makes a very impressive display. I need to trim down the breech block a little more and scallop the top, and then paint it a more fitting shade
but so far I like it!

Hello Medic,

I hadn't noticed the issue with the main gun breech block.
Indeed, it's a shame for a €300 plus model kit.
And besides, correcting this ourselves is a rather delicate job, not to mention that we'll have to repaint it in the exact color.
I've attached photos of my M-10's breech block; is it the same with yours ?.
Furthermore, I noticed that the barrel doesn't hold the horizontal position because there's too much play in the hinge system.
Have you also this issue with yours ?.

Just a few thoughts. Has anyone talked to Ted or Chris at WB on this? I have not opened up the box with my M10 yet but will check out the breech block when I do. Looking at the pictures of the block of the WB M10, the block looks like the breech block is upside down and mounted on top of the breech instead of on the bottom which would leave an opening at the back of the barrel for inspection and loading? Attached is an image of the breech of the 3-inch gun in an M10 ready to fire circa 1944. Would be interesting to see if that part was modeled and molded like that or was inserted and glued in the wrong position? I plan on taking a close look at the WB breech. If it is nonconforming, I will probably just cover it with a piece of material as was done when the M10 was moving. I also saw a comment on the barrel drooping downward, just a note that M10 crews were trained to move the tank with the turret oriented to the rear with a barrel support angling the gun downward with a muzzle cover to minimize contamination. I was planning on putting mine on transport configuration but will check out the barrel as well.

I actually think it's useful to contact Ted or Chris at WB because there's really a big issue with the breech block.
In fact, if we look at the attached photos, it turns out that the breech block is mounted upside down !.
You'd have to completely remove the protruding piece and position it underneath, which is, IMHO, a very difficult modification to make ourself.
Or, as you say, put a piece of material over it to hide the issue, which is a shame on such an expensive kit.

As I mentioned earlier WB should have been contacted. If you purchased a new appliance and it was defective you’d contact the manufacturer or retailer. Well, if you wouldn’t accept it there, why accept it here?

I don't really understand the somewhat austere tone of your message.
As I indicated previously, it is indeed useful to contact WB, and that's what I did.
However, nothing prevents us from discussing it on this forum, which is also designed for that purpose.

I sent Ted an email with images last night right after posting on the forum once I confirmed everything about the positioning of the block. I am sure either Ted or Chris will respond quickly. Chris

My main gun barrel was pretty firm, it stayed in position wherever I moved it. However vibration from modifying the breech changed that.
Now it is very free moving. It looks pretty good now.

I didn't realize the M10 comes with two figures. It looks great. I have the M18 Hellcat, and it is really well done, as is the half-track. The detail is extensive throughout. I should get the M10 or a Sherman to round out the group.
