Matt:

Thanks for the reminder.

Tool is among my all-time favorite bands.

-Jason.
Jason, yeah mate, they certainly are talented musicians, with a unique style.

Speaking of talented musicians, Jim Croce was one of the best, sadly died in a plane crash in 1973.

Jim Croce...Time In A Bottle

And of course some talented musicians don't receive the recognition they deserve, the music business is a tough gig.

Liz Longley...River (Joni Mitchel is a tough act to cover)

Yes Kev, it was mainly about the effects of that war on an Aussie Vet, being released 7 years after the majority of Aussie troops had left Vietnam. Not sure why Khe Sanh is featured as it was a US Marine controlled area, maybe to make the song more attractive to Americans as the band was trying to break into the US market around that time.

The following ballad 'I Was Only Nineteen' by Redgum, which was nearly as popular as 'Khe Sahn', is more relevant to the Australian involvement imo.

Thanks Matt - this song is brilliant.

Thanks Matt. Not too keen on hip hop but that Lenny Kravitz track is ace - I have his 'best of' CD.

Don't like the video much but this song is probably my favourite by the band.

I'm not keen on hip hop either Kev, and agree with you about Lenny, but have to disagree about Oasis, can't stand their attitude.

I initially didn't like them either, until my now grown kids played them so much I grew to like them. They do have some pretty good songs though imo.

How about some smooth jazz instead?

You reminded me of the Commitments in 1991 which had some young children Corrs in it. Just a couple of tracks, love that film.

Matt, Andrea Corr appeared as Sharon Rabbitte, baby sister of the aspiring manager of the band. I don't think there was a weak song in the whole film. It was a funny film and very entertaining imo.

Andrew Strong was only a teenager at the time, with a great voice.

I suspect Colm Meaney, Jimmy Rabitte's dad, has had the best career though.

Cannot disagree about AC/DC Matt, got my first record of theirs back in the seventies - best export from Australia at that time? Great antidote to punk?

AC/DC - Whole Lotta Rosie – BBC 1977.

Kev, AC/DC are a fair dinkum band, proving you can be a rough diamond but still treat your fans etc with respect, unlike some other 'performers';
