Hi everyone!

Like many young American boy, I was absolutely obsessed with Davy Crockett and the Alamo. I still remember when I was around 5 years old and watching Fess Parker’s “Davy Crockett: King of the Wild Frontier” and being absolutely stunned when Davy dies at the end.

While I’m normally a committed First and Second World Wars collector, I couldn’t pass on W. Britain’s exquisite Alamo figures they’ve released in the past few years. As you can see above, I’ve begun the process of converting BMC’s Alamo Chapel facade for a shelf diorama…stay tuned for more!

A key component to painting scenics is a small trick I learned from the great Ken Osen.

Overspraying is the technique of priming a scenic with a dark coat of paint and while this coat is still wet priming a lighter coat overtop. This technique allows for a variation of color once you begin the dry brushing process.



As always, when dry brushing it’s best to always work darkest to lightest in applying the shades of colors. This process along with the over spray technique that I mentioned above creates a fantastic depth of color on your chosen scenic piece.
